NEW! Maybelline Color Jolt, L'Oreal Lip/Blush Paints, ETC

"Aaahhh!!!"

"How many shades? How much?"

"No, no. No lacquer. No glossy. ONLY MATTE!"

"You have a chair? I have to sit down."

"Please give me cotton."
(there's no space left on my hands to swatch.)

"Ooh, what's this?! Is it new? Why didn't you show it to me?"

"Oh Lord, have mercy!"

 ******

That's me at Lifestyle... or any makeup store for that matter! ;p

I swear the word "Matte" makes me go.... MAD!

Combine that with "Paint", and I'll end up looking stunned at the
cash counter when the guy says the total amount.

Nail Polish Of The Week

Tell me, have you ever taken the time to correct a sales person's pronunciation?

Not Bow-doy. It's Boo-dwah.

Not Bow-joice. It's Boorj-wah
(Bourjois - Every.time!)

No? Me neither! I think it's quite offensive when it's not a friend, family or anyone you know closely. Don't you think?

This nail polish! <3 p="">

Pink with a mauve undertone. Perfect for everyday. 2 coats. Applies smoothly, dries quickly.

Best Beauty Products | Current

Hello, all! Hope you're having a good week. I've been busy apartment-hunting for a while, and we finalized on one today. So relieved, and you know what I learned? I mean I've always known it, but now I know without a shadow of a doubt!

When people say: "It's not about the money."

Translation: "It is about the money. Maybe we don't know it yet.
It's a-lll-w-a-y-s about the money. Wake up, silly woman! Stop wondering how MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande Lipstick would look on you!"

Okay. So I've been using some amazing products for the past month, so wanted to share with y'all:

L'Oreal Extraordinary Skin Boosting Oil: Favoritest, this! Best not-so-pricey premium facial oil in the Indian market right now, which also smells the best. By that, I mean it doesn't have a strong scent. Clarins Facial Oil & The Body Shop Oils Of Life have a similar strong scent, and they are super duper pricey. Hi, The Body Shop, Rs.3095? Really?
Formulated with 3 Oils:
Desert nut oil : Deeply nourishes
Geranium essential oil : Replumps skin layer by layer
Rosa canina fruit oil : Illuminates the skin
Will do a detailed post on this.
Price: Rs.1550  from Lifestyle

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream : OH-EM-GEE! I'm so mad at myself for not trying this sooner. The back of my right hand was damaged until this came along. I will post before & after pictures in a separate post.
Price: Rs.300 from local supermarket

Dove Moisture Go Fresh Beauty Cream Bar with Green Tea & Cucumber Scent ~ Hello, simple soap! I started using this only because I ran out of face wash, and was surprised by how gentle and non-drying it is. Recently, I was doing research (ya, let's call it that) on anti-ageing facial cleansers, and I stumbled on an article on Oprah, where they said that expensive anti-ageing face washes are a waste of money, because they don't stay on your skin long enough to do anything. Don't you think that makes total sense? I think this is where I'll be saving my monies ;D
Price: Rs.46 from local supermarket

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm ~  It's a pinky beige that's become one of my favorite nude lippies. Swatches to come.
Price: Rs.710 from Sephora

Maybelline Lip Gradation in Coral1 ~ This color! So bright, so pigmented! The finish is creamy to matte, so dry chapped lips will need extra work before application. Will wear this in a look sometime.
Price: Rs.500 from Lifestyle

Ardell Luckies False Lashes ~ Looking for falsies that aren't too long, that look like mascara-ed lashes? These are them.
Price: Rs.375 from Jabong

Any special products you'd like to share with the rest of us?

Enjoy your Friday!

See you again soon :*

New Year Haul & Life Update

Hi, Everyone! Happy happy New Year to each and everyone of you! Hugs & kisses xx <3 p="">
So late, I know, but I was rarely home these last few weeks. My brother and his family were staying over, and we were always out and about.

I am so very happy 2015 is gone, because it was the worst year of my life. I went through some things that weren't good for me, and I had somehow lost myself. Okay, enough of that. Closed book.
This year feels different already. Another chance to start over, and live the life I want to live.
But it started off with a weird, life-threatening, surreal incident.....

The 'Secret' I Add In Foundations

"The best things are discovered by accident."
~ Anonymous.

****

When that quote becomes popular, I'm gonna say "I'm Anonymous! I'M ANONYMOUS!!!" (I my head, I'm running after people who are not listening to me....and then I stumble & fall on my face.)

BUT I probably won't, because it's so.....it's so.....it's so! Let's just leave it at that.

Beauty Haul ~ New, Old & Favorites

FRIENDS S04E24:

Priest: "Repeat after me, 'I, Ross.'"
Ross: "I, Ross."
Priest: "Take thee, Emily."
Ross: "Take thee, Rachel."

Now that's an old & my most favorite TV show twist ever! I realize it's so random, but I watched it again recently, and I think it's absolutely genius! =D

Now on to my 1st Beauty Haul of 2015.....
......and I like all the products already.....

BEST Drugstore Foundation

This one has beat all of my previous drugstore foundations - Revlon Colorstay FoundationBourjois 1,2,3 Perfect Foundation, Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation, etc.
When I was doing my makeup course, I had many L'Oreal True Match Foundations. Some I'd bought myself, some I got in my kit (A starter kit that's included in the fee.) I think I had, like, 5 bottles. Obviously I got bored of it after using it so much - on myself, on models-of-the-day.....

Back then, I had really prominent melasma/hyperpigmentation on my cheeks & nose. I remember that when this foundation was applied & layered, they almost looked invisible.
I decided to repurchase it recently, many many years later, since my skin was d(r)ying for a new base. I was starting to hate foundations and most bases, because they emphasized the dry patches on my unpredictable pregnancy skin. But now.......

Red Matte Lipsticks ~ Comparison

Following my post on L'Oreal Lincoln Rose (here), I've had a few requests to compare it to MAC Ruby Woo. So, I decided to include the other 3 red matte lippies that I've got in this post:

MAC Ruby Woo (Retro Matte), Rs.990 ~ Reviewed here

MAC RiRi Woo (Retro Matte), Rs.990 ~ Swatched here
*MAC Ruby Woo & RiRi Woo are practically twins. You'd be happy with either. I've compared them in this post
Maybelline Superstay Non-Stop Red, Rs.549 ~ This costs the least. I've swatched other shades from this range here.

L'Oreal Moist Matte Lincoln Rose, Rs.899 ~ Swatched here
Inglot Matte Crayon #21, Rs.680   ~ Swatched before here
MAC Ruby Woo, MAC RiRi Woo, Maybelline Superstay Non-Stop Red, L'Oreal Matte Moist Lincoln Rose, Inglot Lip Crayon #21

Aishwarya Rai's Cannes 2014 Red Lipstick ~ It is.....

She is the talk of the town after her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2014. Forget the Roberto Cavalli gown! My eyes didn't even travel down when I first saw her. Even now I don't really know what the cut is like. Her face, hair & makeup were what made her look....especially the red lips!
When the lipstick isn't blotted, it looks a little bit balmy like here & in the pic below.....

The FLOPS! Beauty & Online Stores

So that movie Queen seems to be a super hit, huh? Saw several FB statuses about it:

 "QUEEN! Loved it!"
 "Queen was awesome!!!"

I didn't know what it was about at first. My first guess was some epic-type movie about some English queen.....or a drag queen transformation movie. It was only until "Kangana rocked in Queen!" that I realized it's a Bollywood movie. Now I can't not watch it, but only until it comes out on DVD where there'll be English subtitles.

Okay, now we talk about the very opposite of Bollywood superhits.....

The most recent FLOPS in the beauty & internet world:

Sunsilk Radiant Shine Shampoo & Conditioner, Rs.56 each

I got the 80ml bottles of both to try out. I made sure to try out 3 other types of shampoos/conditioners to be 100%  sure this is the twosome that lathered my hair to dullsville. After every wash, it felt drier, but got greasy faster. Maybe the 5 oils in it (Argan, Jojoba, Camelia, Almond & Olive) cause too much buildup. No Radiant Shine, amigo!

L'Oreal Kajal Magique, Rs.245

From the first time I used it, I knew I didn't like it, but I wanted to be sure. So, I used it everyday for over a month. Then one day, I took a break from it, and I used my other trusted black kajals/kohls. I saw how much it fell short. It's not soft enough, it's not black enough, and it doesn't last on the waterline.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara, Rs.1020 (from UK)

I tried & I tried some more to love this, but the fancy brush exhausted me! I was doing all the work. From every angle - horizontal, vertical, upside down.... and then always having to clean up after it when it leaves untidy smudges my lids. I wouldn't have minded the effort needed had the results been outstanding, but both length & volume were unimpressive on my thin lashes. Note: It might work better on longer & thicker lashes.

Healthkart.com

The worst online store I've ever shopped from so far. They will send a wrong product, you inform them, they'll tell you to click a photo of the wrong product, pack it properly, hand it over to their pick-up man, delay replacement because the wrong product they sent has to be checked by QC first (What if I'd used/tampered with a random product I didn't want?!), two weeks later they'll inform you the product you actually ordered is not in stock so they won't be able to send it- without an mention of a refund. And all this drama will go on for over 3 weeks. You sent a wrong product by mistake, that's fine. Just fix it ASAP & don't make the unforgivable mistake of making the customer run after you! *I think they wouldn't have refunded the money themselves if we hadn't called them up multiple times.

ASOS

It's not a flop online store, just flop International Shipping. I ordered a pair of shoes that costs around Rs.2000, and I received an email from ASOS saying I need to pay customs fee of around Rs.700. The standard duty fee on footwear in India is 10% (I'd even pay 20%.), but they're charging 35%! What I found odd was, I should have been contacted by our local customs office about the charges when the package had been inspected, but the email came from ASOS not long after I placed the order. Which probably means they're the ones charging, not customs. Simply put, it's their courier fee. Perhaps they should remove their "Free Shipping Worldwide" slogan. I was really depending on it for New Look shoes when I left UK, so it's painful to find out I can no longer order from it....well, unless I get desperate maybe. After several angry emails, they refunded my money.

Now all these are just my personal flops, and they might work better on/for you =D

So what are your Flops this month?

14 New Beauty Products On My Nightstand ~ From India & UK

For the last couple of weeks, I've been seriously craving GLITTER. I wanted some glitter eye shadows, badly. I have some, but they're all in our old apartment far away (and they are not very interesting.) I was so excited when I found some yesterday in Lifestyle. If you are not at all interested in glitter jhatakness, worry not, there are more things you can look at, coz it is sort of a Collective Haul post.
Faces Stackable Sparkle Glitter ~ Look! Aren't they super cute stacked up like that?! Colors: Silver, Gold, White, Blue, Pink, Purple. I know exactly what I'm sprinkling on my eyes first. Price: Rs.499
Faces Sparkle Dust in Light Pink ~  I noticed this before the glitters. These also come stacked, but I just a single for now. Price: Rs.200-something.
L'Oreal Stain Splash in Lolita (Nude) & Marilyn (Fuchsia) ~ Quite disappointed with these, coz they don't have as much color payoff as the first shade I'd tried, Princess (swatched here)
Lakmé Gloss Stylist in Pink Pout ~ Thought I should give one of these a try, since I have not got new Lakmé products in a long time. Will swatch it and let you know if it's worth the Rs.700 price tag.

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara ~ First Try.....

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara ~ A newly-launched mascara that promises you big Manga lashes. The formula is made up of enlarging collagen spheres that work perfectly in conjunction with the 360° flexible cone shaped brush to amplify upper lashes and reveal lower lashes. This exclusive formula also contains a trilogy of polymers for absolute hold and staying power.
What is Manga? Manga are comics created in Japan. You know those black & white cartoon sketches of boys and girls with the big sad eyes and pointy bangs and....you know what, you should just google images for a better explanation =D
The brush does take getting used to when doing upper lashes because it's thicker on one end, but the tapered conical end does help get the little corner lashes and is the right size and shape for working on bottom lashes.

12 Lip Crayons

When you were a kid/teen, you:
A. Used only the crayon you needed at a time. You like to keep them looking brand new.
B. Used only the bright colors. You probably colored leaves yellow or orange.
C. Used all of them at once. You loved coloring flowers and kites.
I pick C.  I used all the crayons in my box as soon as I get them. I would just scribble rubbish with each and every color. I probably doodled  CYNTHIA   LEONARDO. Yes, Dicaprio was my life back then. My life!
That's why even now, I want to try ALL the lip crayons. I think I've swatched everyone of them in drugstores. But I don't have all (yet), I have only the ones shown below:
Topshop Lip Stick Clueless ~ Worn here
Lakmé Absolute Lip Tint Berry Pink ~ Swatches here
Revlon Balm Stain Rendezvous, Sweetheart, Honey ~ Swatches here
L'Oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss Die For Guava ~ Swatch here
Bourjois Color Boost Peach On The Beach + Red Sunrise (below) ~ Swatches here
Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balm Give Me A Cuddle ~ Swatches to be posted.

Holiday Party LOTD & Accessories

My favorite season & month is here! I just can't believe another year is coming to an end. I clicked these pics mainly to show off my new quirky hairband and then one thing led to another.....next thing I knew, I was naming my blog post "Holiday Party LOTD" when I didn't really go to any party....haha!
*These pics were taken on a very cloudy day. So the pics turned out very dark & noisy. Here in Scotland, one minute it's bright and sunny, and I think "Ooh, let's take pictures!" Then when I'm done gathering the things or myself, it's suddenly gloomy, sometimes when it's only 3 in the afternoon!

L’Oreal Paris Lippies ~ Glam Shine Balmy Gloss | Glam Shine Stain Splash | Rouge Caresse

How often do you see L'Oreal lipsticks on my blog? Rarely. Apart from hair colors (more than 50 of them, I think), I don't often seek L'Oreal makeup. The biggest reason for that is because L'Oreal a little bit more pricey compared to other drugstore brands, especially here in the UK. A gel liner costs almost a 1000 rupees! So the other day I went to Superdrug specially to get a Glam Shine Balmy Gloss, but as always, I was 'forced' to get 3 products to make use of the 3 for 2 offer (meaning: I get 3, but pay for only 2).
Thanks to the offer, I found a new favorite lippie that I wouldn't have willingly bought otherwise. I saved it for last.....
L’Oreal Paris Glam Shine Balmy Gloss Die For Guava ~ I picked this one from 6 shades (see all shades here). Die For Guava is a lilac pink. The texture is buttery, and this shade needs to be layered a few times to look somewhat opaque. For now, I'd say it's most similar to Bourjois Color Boost. It is fragrance-free. Price: £6.99  | Rs.694. They cost Rs.400 in India. In the case of 3 for 2, I got this one for free, coz it's the cheapest.

Haul: New Hair Care Products

Just wanted to quickly talk about some new hair care products that are going to be part of my hair routine this month:
  • L'Oreal Elvive Damage Care Shampoo & Conditioner for Damaged or Brittle Hair ~ They claim to 'fill in cracks' and and seal hair cuticles with Cement-Ceramide, an intense formula that contains a replica of the natural hair's ceramide Price: £4 | Rs.412 for 2.
  • VO5 Smoothly Does It Straightening Lotion ~ I got this because my straightened hair has grown out, and it's gotten wavy near the roots. Apply 8-10 pumps on towel-dried hair, blow dry & then use a straightener. Claims to last up to 3 washes! Let's see. Price: £5.99 | Rs.620. But £5 for 2 VO5 products from Sainsbury's, which is awesome! I almost got it for full price from Superdrug once, phew!
  • VO5 Treat Me Right Rinse Out Deep Conditioning Treatment ~ A deep conditioner with 5 natural oils - Avocado oil, Argan oil, Apricot oil, Grape seed oil, Jojoba oil. Very excited to try this, because I know my hair desperately needs some deep TLC.  Original Price: £4.28 | Rs.442.
