This one has beat all of my previous drugstore foundations - Revlon Colorstay Foundation, Bourjois 1,2,3 Perfect Foundation, Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation, etc.
When I was doing my makeup course, I had many L'Oreal True Match Foundations. Some I'd bought myself, some I got in my kit (A starter kit that's included in the fee.) I think I had, like, 5 bottles. Obviously I got bored of it after using it so much - on myself, on models-of-the-day.....
Back then, I had really prominent melasma/hyperpigmentation on my cheeks & nose. I remember that when this foundation was applied & layered, they almost looked invisible.
I decided to repurchase it recently, many many years later, since my skin was d(r)ying for a new base. I was starting to hate foundations and most bases, because they emphasized the dry patches on my unpredictable pregnancy skin. But now.......
My Shade: D3-W3 Beige Dore/Golden Beige, which has yellow undertones & suits my skin tone well.
Texture: Lightweight. Second skin type. It blends in seconds.
Finish: Satin- non-greasy with subtle sheen. Not matte, not greasy, just right. I think it adapts according to skin type. If you already have smooth non-bumpy skin - WOW! Right now, my skin is Oily/Combination with dryness around my nose and forehead.
Shimmer? There is a little bit of shimmery particles when you look at the bottle, but they don't show on your skin.
*The original didn't have any shimmer.
Coverage: It covers really well for a non-heavy liquid foundation. Best thing is you can layer it, so it acts as concealer too, and it never looks cakey.
Longevity: It sets really well on skin, so you don't have to worry about it slipping off even in this Delhi temperature.
Packaging: One of the reasons I wasn't a fan of the old version was because the bottle had no pump. I remember I would end up spilling too much of it on my palm. Well this new version comes with a pump, hoorah!
Best Applied: Looks best when applied with a synthetic foundation brush, but fingers do a good job too, since it's so easy to blend.
L'Oreal True Match Foundation Golden Beige Swatch
L'Oreal True Match Foundation Golden Beige Swatch
1st Pic: Just moisturized bare skin. See how I have a mask of pigmentation beneath the surface of my skin? This mask is all over my face, forehead too. My natural skin tone is actually seen only on my jawline and corners of my face.2nd Pic: Dabbed some foundation with Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. How different the shade looks on my arm and on my face! That's why you should always test foundations on your jawline. Check out my tips on How To Buy The Right Foundation here3rd Pic: I blended the foundation, and then stippled a little bit more only on the spots and edges of the pigmentation. If my skin looks warmer here, it's because the bronze brush handle altered the natural light.4th Pic: After. I'll let the photo speak for itself.
So, without a doubt, L'Oreal True Match is the Number 1 Drugstore Foundation I'd recommend to anyone. I'm so glad I decided to try it again. Now I don't mind looking at my made-up skin really really closely anymore.
Price: Rs.995. for 30ml. It may cost less online.

Have a great week,everyone!
Have you tried this? What is your most favorite drugstore foundation?
I need to buy some liquids for my kit as well, creams and Derma can only do so much. I don't want to spend on MAC because truthfully, their foundations don't wow me. I was considering going for the AMC liquids by Inglot, they're beautiful! Or the L'Oreal True Match... Would you recommend the True Match to use professionally? Does the SPF affect the finish in any way? Or should I stick to Inglot? Would love to hear your opinion! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Nisha,
DeleteI now the question was for CZ but I cudnt resist answering since it involved AMC liquids by Inglot..I used it for so many years and even on a Cpl of frnds of mine (though m not a professional makeup artist but my frnds always asked for suggestions and occasional makeup artistry from me).. The only problem with SPF is sometime they might look a little tacky and whitish in pictures..so not sure about that but honestly it never left me ghastly in any of my pics even though most of my foundations have SPF..

Hey Nisha, I think it's fine for professional use, esp since you can mix shades. The SPF doesn't affect the finish. However, it may affect flash photos. I have not tried any of the Inglot AMC foundations, so I really don't know if they're better or not.

I'm confused, whether I should buy this or bourjois happy light foundation for my combination skin.
ReplyDeleteI personally did not like Happy Light, because it turned orange on me, so I'd recommend this one.

I've somehow never tried L'Oréal foundations before but the way you've described this, I'm going to get this real soon.
ReplyDeleteCan You Plz Tell If You Find It Better Than Lakme White Intense Skin Cover SPF25 For Very Oily Skin?
ReplyDeleteI'd say Lakme Skin Cover is more matte, and this has a little bit of glow.

I really want to try the Lumi because I heard it reminds people of the Lancome Tient Miracle!
ReplyDeleteLaila from Townhouse Palette ♥
I am so wanting to try the Loreal foundations but think Loreal Nude Magique will be the 1st 1 that I wud want to try(whenever it will launch in India i.e.)...I have quite a lot of stuff to finish before that and also have heard rave reviews about that 1...but even this one looks super super awesome..
ReplyDeleteHey! I totally agree with you! I just started using the l'oreal true match foundation & I love it! Good array of colour options, adequate coverage & gives skin a nice glow. I've read a lot of blogs where this foundation has been forgotten & then rediscovered after bad experiences with other brands. I guess you don't know what you have till it's gone :D I use a beauty sponge to apply & I have to say this gives me the best streak free & even look. Must try stippling/ flat brushes next!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the best ever! It's always had a pump in singapore, they've just renewed the packaging and still with the pump! I really need to get a new bottle of this!
ReplyDeleteSounds good!

ReplyDeleteI have tried loreal true match lumi... that was also one of the best in terms of second skin type and very natural finish... but the biggest drwaback was that it oxidized on my skin alot, alot..
ReplyDeleteHi CZ
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your review...it is very useful
However i also have prominent melasma/hyperpigmentation on both sides of cheek and it makes me look very patchy :(
Can you please help me how you got rid of it as i am dying to find a solution to it.....i hope you reply soon.....
take care
Neha
Hi Neha, I too have the same question to CZ, I really want good coverage. Plz CZ can you answer our question.
DeleteI used Tri-luma cream to get rid of them. It's a strong bleaching cream that turned out to be quite controversial, so I don't know if you can still get it easily now. But it worked for me. I bought it from Singapore years ago, so try to find out online. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI bought this one in hurry but thank god it didn't turn out to be waste purchase. This is so light that I really like wearing it. Only thing I feel is that it dries out fast, so we need to apply soon
ReplyDeleteI was faced with the same dilemma, replacing my L'Oreal 'warm' foundation with another. I just got the 30ml golden beige bottle from amazon for Rs 768.
