Lakmé Vitamin C+ Serum ~ Does It WORK?

My bottle is near empty, the last few drops of serum rest still at the bottom, quite like the last sip of tea at the bottom of a lone tea cup in my kitchen sink. It's habitual, the tea thing. The last drops of skincare product, on the other hand, is a harbinger of either 'Need More' or 'Never Again'.

‘I’ll try it over my Mamonde Rose Water Toner today., I thought to myself many weeks ago, while standing under the hot shower. It had been raining, and I made the water January-weather hot. My body wash smelled so good, like Blueberries dipped in cotton candy spring water, and I reminded myself to have some Blueberry Greek Yogurt later. Blueberry became my #1 flavour overnight, overshadowing all the other fruit flavours. *Deleted Squid Games on Netflix Top 10 analogy here, because I couldn't get through even 1 episode - yet*

'I wonder what Kakudu Plum tastes like... like the plums that grew in the backyard of my childhood home? Nah... 'kakudu' just doesn't sound like something sweet to me. I'm thinking... somewhat bitter-sour, like amla (gooseberry). It also sounds like something with a hard shell - like coconut, something you can knock on & it'd make a ka-ku-du type of sound...'

Before my face dried completely, it had been rose water-toned with a cotton pad. The glass dropper felt cold like a shard of ice against my face as I dragged it like a feather across half my face & squeezed little drops of Lakmé Vitamin C+ Serum. Only half my face, because I wanted to compare - and I do this as a consumer, not a f------  critic.

Then I just stood there & stared at the one half of my face in the mirror. Waiting....waiting for a (miracle) different outcome : filtered-looking pores, invisible blackheads, that plush reflective skin, that stark yang-like difference, that 'something' in a skincare product that makes you glow like you're about set to go on Instagram Reels and sync your expert skincare advice & tips with some bhangra type dance moves (hip thrust & pointing, yo). You're using all the ABC's now, after all  - AHA, BHA, Vit C. You're on the righteous path of being the Baba Ramdev of skincare.

Beauty Haul: Lakmé, MAC, Maybelline, Kiko, Innisfree

Remember a long time ago, when I'd go shopping & then come back home....click pictures....and immediately post them on the blog? I remember I'd go to Boots & Superdrug, and sometimes I left home too late & walked to the city center, and I'd reach there just when they're closing - at 6 PM! I'd stand outside, give them a sad look, and they'd shake their heads & sternly mouth: "No, sorry, we're closed."
This didn't happen just one time, by the way.

Well, those days are back! And luckily, I'm in India now, where shops close at 10 PM! Although, last time I was in Kiko Milano, during the curfew days when shops had to close by 7:45-8 PM, a salesman had to tell me, "Ma'am, please finish soon, we're closing in 15 minutes." - this type of pressure on me made me buy a glitter lip balm, instead of something I'd really use & love, you know.

Hi.....

Hi, Everyone! :)
Hope you're all doing well x

It's just been a crazy few months. I've been travelling & busy with work and new projects. Last month, Ziizayne turned 4 years old, and we were in my hometown. Had planned to post this before we left, but.... well, didn't happen.

I'd say this is my favorite summer outfit of 2018 & favorite shade of blue too.

NEW! Maybelline Color Jolt, L'Oreal Lip/Blush Paints, ETC

"Aaahhh!!!"

"How many shades? How much?"

"No, no. No lacquer. No glossy. ONLY MATTE!"

"You have a chair? I have to sit down."

"Please give me cotton."
(there's no space left on my hands to swatch.)

"Ooh, what's this?! Is it new? Why didn't you show it to me?"

"Oh Lord, have mercy!"

 ******

That's me at Lifestyle... or any makeup store for that matter! ;p

I swear the word "Matte" makes me go.... MAD!

Combine that with "Paint", and I'll end up looking stunned at the
cash counter when the guy says the total amount.

My Review In Cosmopolitan Magazine ~ Lakmé CC Cream

As I've mentioned here, I'm part of Cosmo Beauty Panel, a group of 17 people who'll be reviewing the newest products that hit shelves for Cosmopolitan India. One of my first set of reviews was featured in last month's (October) issue, and it's of India's first CC Cream - Lakmé CC Cream.
About  Lakmé CC Cream: A complexion care cream with SPF 20 that protects, moisturizes, brightens, evens tone, conceals & freshens.

Available in 2 shades- Beige & Bronze. I've been using Beige.
I said: "It evened out my skin tone, which has underlying hyperpigmentation (melasma), but wasn't thick enough to conceal spots. While it lasts all day, it requires a bit of powder in top so skin doesn't look oily."
Below are some swatches to complete my review.......

2-in-1 Eye Makeup Tutorial ~ Metallic Eyes & V-Kohl Eyeliner

What would you name this look? I didn't know what to call it, so I went with Metallic Eyes & V-Kohl. I hear laughing in my head. Good thing I ditched 'Golden Pomegranate Eyes'
This eye makeup may look "formal", but it's really not. Yes, you could wear it to a wedding, but it wouldn't look o-t-t if you wore it on a family picnic either. You'll see*
I've split this tutorial into two, so that I get to show you in detail  how I did the eyeliner, as well.
Products I Used:
  • Shimmery Cream Eyeshadow ~ Maybelline 24Hr Color Tattoo Metallic Pomegranate or Pomegranate Punk
  • Gold Eyeshadow ~ Urban Decay Half Baked from Naked Palette.
  • Black Kohl & Eyeshadow ~ Lakmé Kohl Ultimate, Bourjois Intense Eyeshadow #10
  • Mascaras ~ Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama & Bourjois Fan-Tastic Volume.
  • Brushes ~ Sigma E25 Blending Brush, Urban Decay Good Karma Brush.

1st Tutorial is the Metallic Eyeshadow:
1. Take Metallic Pomegranate on ring finger.
2.  Apply it on your lid till your crease.
3. It should look like that. It's okay if the edges aren't neat right now.
4. Now take the same color tattoo on a fluffy blending brush, and go over the edges of the  shadow using windshield wiper & circular motions.
5. Keep blending from one end to the other.
6. Once the edges look hazy, apply a gold eyeshadow on the inner half of your lid, but don't touch the upper edge of the previous e/s.
7. Apply the gold on your inner corner around your tear duct, as well.
8. Apply the same gold e/s on the outer half of lower lash line.
9. Apply the same metallic pomegranate on the inner half of lower lash line.
*I'm doing this to balance the look.
10. Line your top & bottom waterline with black kohl pencil. Tutorial below.
11. Apply lots of mascara on top & bottom lashes. I applied 3 coats of Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama first, then about 2-3 coats of Bourjois Fan-Tastic Volume Mascara. Lashes look more clumpy up-close only.
12. DONE!

♥

Now, on to the 2nd Tutorial ~ The V-Kohl

1. Sharpen your kohl pencil first, then  tightline upper lash line. That means lining on the roots of your lashes.
2.  Line waterline all the way to the inner tear duct area.
3. See how that closes up my eye & makes it look smaller?
4. Start lining the top lash line. It's better not to drag it in one go. Make dots and join, instead.
5. Make kohl thicker at the outer corner. Extend it a little past the corner of your eye.
6. It should look like that.
7. That white line is just to show you how to join with it with the lower lash line.
8. From the tip of upper kohl, line downwards toward lower lash line, stopping before the edge of your eyeball, allowing the gold e/s to still show. Fill inside the V or the <
9. Lastly, take some matte black eyeshadow on an angled or pointed liner brush and press it on  kohl. Again, don't drag the brush. This will prevent it from smudging & also even out the edges.
10.  Just mimic the previous steps. Press black eyeshadow on lower lash line....
11. .....and upper lash line.
12. DONE!

It's my favorite way to line my eyes, i.e. when my kohl is sharp. Bollywood actresses like Bipasha Basu, Rani Mukherjee & Aishwarya Rai  line their eyes this way a lot.
If you line all the way in on the bottom lash line, you'll achieve Rani Mukherjee's heavy kohl-ed eyes like I did in the Bombay Talkies inspired look here.

♥

Hope you picked up some tips from these 2 tuts (two.toots.) I will be posting more before the month ends.

Budget Beauty Finds ~ Rs.300 and Under

We have a budget post after a long time! I like doing these, since majority of my readers are students, and if they're like I was, half their monthly allowance goes to canteen bread pakoras. I'd want to eat them every.single.day back then. Mmm....now I want them!

Hello, can you pout and say 'p-s-y-c-h-o-l-o-g-y' at the same time?

So here are 6 great budget products that I personally like a lot, and they all cost Rs.300 and under.

  • INGLOT Eye Shadow 326 ~ A useful matte brown eye shadow. Price: Rs.300
  • Colorbar Eye Shadow in Dancing Peacock ~ This is a very unique green eye shadow that I fell in love with instantly. It's in the same color family as MAC Humid eye shadow
    Price: Rs.300
  • Colorbar Smokin' Eyes Smudger Brush ~ Great for smudging kohl, and applying highlight eye shadow on the inner tear duct areas. But yes, the color bleeds a little bit when washing. See more Colorbar brushes herePrice: Rs.250
  • Nail Juice Nail Polish in Hibiscus ~ Swatched here. I'm just showing you the one shade I have with me, but you can check out other colors too. Price: Rs.50
  • Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick* ~ You can read about it more here. Basically, it's a foundation in stick form, evens out skin tone, and contains Salicylic Acid to control oiliness. Available in 2 shades- Fawn (dark) & radiance (light). This one is Fawn, which is too dark for me. Price: Rs.250.
  • Lakmé Enrich Satin Lipstick 149 ~ A fabulous fuchsia pink lippy. I got it with the MAC Love Goddess DupePrice: Rs.225
Swatches: Maybelline BB Stick Fawn, Lakmé Enrich Satin Lipstick 149, Colorbar Eye Shadow 33 Dancing Peacock. Nail Juice Hibiscus swatch here. Inglot 326 is part of a palette that I'm going to show you soon.

MAC Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Love Goddess Dupe?

More than 10 YESES came in when I asked you if the lipstick looked like a dupe of the other lipstick. Previous post here, in case you missed it. A lot of yeses, actually. Some even guessed the lipsticks already! Such smart readers I have...it's like I can't hide anything for long! =D
Okay! The lipsticks are MAC Love Goddess (from Marilyn Monroe Collection. Photos & Swatches here) & Lakmé Enrich Satin #356.
I went to check out the new shades of Lakmé Enrich Satins, and from the first moment I saw Lakmé Enrich Satin 356, I thought it looked similar to MAC Love Goddess. I had to wait to compare them coz I was in Delhi, and Love Goddess was in Newcastle. When I could finally hold them together, they did not look exactly the same. Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 looked redder. But when I swatched & wore them, it's a different story. They looked almost the same. Ohhh, they're both Satin finish too- I realized this just now, as I'm writing! MAC Satin finish....Lakmé Enrich Satin .....sheesh, what a tube light I am sometimes.
MAC Love Goddess,  Lakmé Enrich Satin #356

I applied MAC Love Goddess on the right side of my lips & Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 on the left. Excuse the lopsidedness =D

After blotting with a tissue....
As you can see, Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 is a little bit darker and has more red in it. But I think they look similar enough.

Price Difference:
  • MAC Love Goddess ~ Rs.1050/ I bought it for Rs.1297 from UK. It was a 'Limited Edition' lipstick.
  • Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 ~ Rs.225. [Lakmé, Y U NO stick to these prices?]

DUPE METER:  I'd say 95% but it could look 99% if applied in a super copycat style.

What do you all think? Btw, did you want MAC Love Goddess and couldn't get it? Comment below with your feedback for more DUPE posts! =)

India Beauty HAUL, Etc + A New Life Change.....

They didn't all fit on the window sill, so I took them to the backyard table. The biting cold forced me to scatter them haphazardly. For the first time, the wind didn't knock any of them off where they lay disorderly....and none of them fell through the gaps on the wooden planks. "Little joys.", I thought to myself. A minute later, I saw the first 10 drops of rain on the little black boxes.
These are the beauty products I brought back with me from our brief India holiday.... apart from the beauty bags I already had with me =D
Products shown in random order:

  • Heart Box, pink brush holder thing, eyeliners, etc are from Dubai
  • Nars Loose Powder & Blush
