The Most Popular Korean Beauty Product

So, so popular that they don't need to sell on their own website anymore, it seems. Just straight to Wholesale - bulk sales, bulk profits.

I first spotted this on Korean drama series, 'Love ft Marriage & Divorce' in 2021 - which, by the way, ruined Season 2 (or was it 3?) for me because they changed most of the actors & it felt like a completely different show!

After that, I started seeing it often online. Apparently, it's been featured on many more Korean drama series - the advertisement platform where new beauty products go straight from 0 → HERO.

I'm talking about the Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm Stick.....

Yes, it is bigger than a standard lipstick.

NIVEA Soft Light Moisturiser LIMITED EDITION

Was at a pharmacy buying medicines, and saw these mini Nivea creams in a pack. Been wanting to try one of the limited edition ones, so this is a great way to find which one I like best.

I use them only for hands & body, not for face.

The Skincare Ingredient That Works Like A Charm

Have you ever used something, and thought, 'Where have you been all my life?!'

You use it on a recurrent skin problem - you'd even rubbed your own tears on this problem (just to see) -  and it's the ONLY product that showed immediate results?

C I C A

Real Name: Centella Asiatica
Nickname: Cica

It is also called Tiger Grass, because tigers roll their bodies on it when they're wounded (Don't you just LOVE information about the wilderness like this?) How do the tigers know this, is what I'm wondering.

Cica is dominating most of Korean skincare's Ingredients decks lately. The brand, Some By MI, has launched a serum made with Snail Mucin & Cica, and I can't wait to try that out!

I'm now using the Innisfree Bija Cica Balm, which has proven to me that it does work like a charm.

Best Things I Bought Lately

By "best", I just mean money well spent. Because they're pretty.... and girly....
and they simply bring a sort of..... custom-made joy to my life =D

H&M Vintage Pink Faux Fur Jacket: From the kids' section, for 8-10 yrs old! ;p
One size up would've been more my size, but that was no longer available.
I was shopping with my Mom at H&M, basically I needed some jumpers for Zii. We went our separate ways at the store. I spotted these pink faux fur coats that don't look like they're for kids in one corner. My Mom found me while I was trying them on in front of a mirror at the back of the store, and she was like, "All this time I thought you were shopping for your child, but here you are. You are not only a shopaholic, you are a holic.". I tried one similar coat from the Women's section, in a Size 6, just to compare, but it didn't sit as well as this one on my petite frame + the sleeves were too long. Now I know where to go for coats from now on...hehe!
(You can have a better look at it here)

La Senza Bralette ~ I have a thing for bralettes, if you haven't noticed it yet, and I was psyched to find a pink lacy one. Most of the lacy ones I see are always black. I find bralettes without any straps and hooks more comfortable to wear under body-hugging sweaters and winter clothes (Actually, I hate bra straps altogether!) This comes with matching knickers.

Herbal Essences Ignite My Colour Dry Shampoo ~  It doesn't leave any white powdery residue & it  smells like roses + adds some volume. I found this at a chemist shop for Rs.760.

It's Skin Caviar Double Effect Serum ~ Product of the week! I was hooked from the first time I used it. Price: Rs.2300

The Life Changing Magic Of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo: I spoke about this book in this post, and I finally got it. I've yet to finish reading the whole book, and I want to do a proper review to let you guys know if it really is life-changing. But I learnt one very useful tip: To fold your clothes vertically, so everything is laid out for you, and you don't have to dig for anything. Wait, I will come back and talk more about this in another post.

ZARA Sock-Style Over The Knee Boots ~  It's hard to find OTK boots in India, and next to impossible if your feet are tiny. When I saw some on Zara website, I ordered 2 pairs. Both Size UK 2. I posted a short video of me unboxing this pair (etc) on Instagram. In case you're not on social media, I'll attach it here.....

My TOP 17 Beauty Products 2017

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Everyone! =)

It took me a while to get into blogging mode, and after having trouble trying to decide which was gonna be my 1st post of the year, I'm going with the kind I personally like to have a look at on other blogs.....

Here are my TOP 17 Beauty Products of 2017. Stuff that I'll still be using this year.....

 ~ Makeup ~

1. MAC Face and Body Foundation: Pure Love for it! If you have never found a lightweight sheer coverage foundation that somehow blurs out your spots and makes your skin look more healthy, this is it. My shade is C2.
(Price: Rs.2500)

2. Smashbox Photofinish Primer Water: You know a primer is good when your makeup is recyclable the next day *insert see-no-evil monkey emoji here*. It was the holidays & freezing cold! I didn't want to love this, because it's expensive, but when my base looks more flawless with it....
(Price: Rs.2900)

3. L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eye Liner: The only black kohl I used all year. It's very black & super soft & long-lasting.
(Price: 575)

4. L'Oreal Le Matte Lip Pen 102 She's So Matte: This was my most favorite lipstick in 2017. It's very comfortable & just that kind of wearable pinky-nude. For more photos, please go here.
(Price: 750)

5. Deborah Milano Fluid Velvet Mat Lipstick 01 Antique Rose: My most used liquid lipstick last year, more often as a base under She's So Matte up there.
(Price: Rs.850)

6. Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara: I bought 3 of these in 2017 alone, and I can say it's the best Maybelline Mascara for thin lashes.
(Price: 550)

Can Your BELLY BUTTON Really Improve Your Skin, Etc?

Mistake: *Alcohol & Brandy soaked in cotton* >.<

I came across a few articles about the Belly Button recently, and I had to share with you all.

I'd only known about Mustard Oil for chapped lips before, and I feel like I'd been living under a rock that I hadn't heard about the rest of them:

Chapped Lips: Put a few drops of Mustard Oil before going to bed. (This works!)

Glowing Skin: Put a few drops of Almond Oil.

Pigmentation: Apply Lemon Oil.

Acne: Put a dew drops of Neem Oil.

Cold, Flu & Running Nose: Dip a piece cotton in Alcohol, and place it on your belly button.

Improve Fertility: Put drops of Coconut or Olive Oil.

Menstrual Cramps: Dip a piece of cotton in Brandy, and place it on your belly button.

Remember I'm only sharing. It's totally up to you whether you believe it or not.

Me, I'm buying Lemon Oil & Almond Oil, and I'll definitely try the alcohol for flu one when necessary.

P.S: In one of the comments or post, one lady asked:
"What oil can I use to remove my husband?"
 =D

Product Of The Week ~ Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil Balm

The answer is YES.

We now a product just like the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, which is very pricey! (Rs.2900?)

If you're like me, and always have a hard trying to decide whether to carry a big bottle of Cleansing Oil or not every time you travel (of course you also misplaced so many of those tiny travel-sized bottles that'd come in real handy!), then you need a cleansing oil that comes in a small container! =)

Because its a Korean product, I couldn't find a really good description of it online, so I'll just put the common one I found :

~ Steam method moisturizing ingredient opens pores to cleanse impurities inside pores.

~ Helps to have moisturizing cleansing that won’t be dry after cleansing.

~ Washable type that you can cleanse with water.

~ Refreshing apple fragrance.

~ Help to have moisturizing cleansing that won’t be dry after cleansing.

~Washable type that you can cleanse with water.

Basically, once you spread this on your fingers, it melts into oil which thoroughly removes makeup
and then you can rinse it all off with water.

Word-Of-Mouth Skin Secret/Dark Spot Lightener

This convo took place at a funeral, so please read it in a hush hush tone....

......................................

I know it's not a groundbreaking tip, and I myself have used it plenty before, but after hearing that it actually improved something, I'm looking at it with googly eyes now. I have more faith in it.

That's what we want, isn't it? Confirmation that something will work before we commit to it? =)

How Many Beauty Products Do I Use In A Day?

Before you read this post, I'd like to tell you 5 things about my younger self:

1. One time, when I was a teenager, I had only Rs.150 in my pocket. I needed to spend it, of course. I bought a big heavy bottle of Peach Hair Conditioner. I think it was Herbal Essences, but I'm not sure. Now that was a time when we only used hair products that came in those 2-rupee sachets, so it was a big deal. I gave up Lassi & Puri Sabji at a popular joint for it. I went home (super hungry), and used it before attending a wedding. The tailor didn't stitch my dress that well and my shoes hurt like hell, but "I just used a pricey fancy conditioner....woohooo!!!"

2. (I've told this story before) When I was younger than, or about, 10 years old, my nanny gave me 5 rupees to buy my Mom a birthday present. I bought her a tiny lipstick. A green one. The kind that turns pink once applied.  She didn't use it at all, but that thrill of buying a lipstick? I remember. To this day, I remember the little local shop with charcoal-stained & broken wooden walls, it was hot, you couldn't enter the shop, you could only point at what you want, I remember standing on tip toes to talk to the shopkeeper & then running home super duper excited, I remember.

3. I always looked forward to Sunday's Graphiti Magazine. Flipped it back to front, because first things first - The Beauty Tips section. Yes, I tried most, if not all, of them.

4. I used to love walnuts, I saved the shells, because I thought they looked too good to throw away. I didn't know what to do with them, but I had a feeling they were.... special. This was before my teens, so I knew nothing about walnut scrubs. Imagine older me finding 2 big packets of empty walnut shells on top of my textbooks in a cabinet!

5. Long before I could use makeup, meaning: school days, I applied Vaseline on my lashes to thicken & curl them. I'd pinch some lashes together - back then, just because. Beauty Hack right there.

What I wanted you to pick up from that is -

I LOVE BEAUTY PRODUCTS! I ALWAYS HAVE!

Okay! Now you are ready to read the post  ;p

The 'Secret' I Add In Foundations

"The best things are discovered by accident."
~ Anonymous.

****

When that quote becomes popular, I'm gonna say "I'm Anonymous! I'M ANONYMOUS!!!" (I my head, I'm running after people who are not listening to me....and then I stumble & fall on my face.)

BUT I probably won't, because it's so.....it's so.....it's so! Let's just leave it at that.

A Dermatologist Visit: Moles, Pigmentation, Etc.

So I finally visited a dermatologist after putting it off for months. Mr.CZ was like, "I'm just going to call and book an appointment for you. I don't care what you say anymore."

***Before you continue reading this post, please keep in mind that I'm in no way giving you medical advice. Your own dermatologist or family physician is always the best person to go for the best advice on anything concerning your skin & health. I'm just sharing my experience and the products recommended to me only for reference. Like, I'd love to know what other people's dermatologists are recommending for the same skin issues, so that I can ask my own doctor about those products.

****

Derm: "Hi, Cynthia. I was waiting only for you (Not like Richard Marx , I was his last appointment). Come, come, sit. Tell me."

Me: "Hi, Doctor. So I have this mole (on my neck)....I think it's changed....sometimes it...."

Derm: "Oh, nothing to worry about! See, if the mole doesn't ooze or bleed, there's no need to worry about it."

Me: "....sometimes it itches....and I think it got a bit bigger...."

Derm: "It looks fine, don't worry.... *then he spoke too fast* .....heart is a small organ & skin is such a BIG organ."

Me: "So, there's no need for a Biopsy and such?"

Derm: "Nah! See people in the West....the skin is thin.....pigmentation.....and we people here....*again, he spoke too fast & I have the attention span of a 5-year-old*"

(Mr.CZ later explained to me that what he said basically is that white skin that burns easily when exposed to sunlight is more susceptible to serious skin problems.)

Me: (Please finish speaking, so I show you my other skin concern! Gawd, these jeans have gotten so tight, I hope I can still pull them up to show him my legs. Okay, go!) "Doctor, I also wanted to show you these red bumps on my legs that I got after waxing...."

(I got these tiny red bumps on my legs last year after waxing during my 2nd month of pregnancy, I think, and they got worse coz of the hormones maybe. I didn't want to use any strong medicated creams during pregnancy, so I thought let it be. Then the heaters in winter made them appear again. They kept re-appearing and spreading, so it's time for a permanent solution.)

Derm: "Oh, this is just Folliculitis. I'll prescribe a cream. I always tell people to just use lotion for dry skin!"

Me: "But I do use lotion."

Derm: "Which lotion?"

Me: "Uh....lots." (The Body Shop, Nivea, Vaseline, Soap & Glory....Them beauty products are my drug, bruh!)

Derm: *Smiled like I was lying to him.*

Me: "Body washes are okay to use? They're not the cause?"

Derm: "With any skin concern, I always recommend a neutral soap. DOVE. That's all."

Me: "Okay. Another thing, Doctor. I got this brown line during pregnancy...."

Derm: "Oh, stretch marks."

Me: "No, that line in the center....below the belly button....Linea Nigra."

Derm: "Oh, Linea Nigra. That's normal."

Me: "No, I want to remove it."

Derm: "Okay. I'll prescribe a cream for pigmentation. It will lighten it."

Me: "Does this cream work for pigmention on the face too? Like Melasma and....."

Derm: "You don't have pigmentation! =D"

Me: "No, I'm just asking =D" (For my blog readers & others interested)

Derm: "Yes, it does."

It may seem like the doctor was quite rude for interrupting me all the time, but he's actually very nice. Unlike other doctors who want you to go visit them all the time, he told me to just email him a photo of any skin problem anytime. He said "Just click and send. No need to come see me!" =)

****

So below are the 3 products he prescribed for me:

For Rashes/Folliculitis ~ Lishkara Body Lotion. Enriched with Vitamin E, Dead Sea Minerals & Squalene. I see the first ingredient is Aloe Vera. I feel this lotion is quite over-priced, and that maybe the doctor have some kind of deal with the company that makes it. I can't even find it on Google for Pete's sake...Haha! But I've used it, and it does soothe my skin. It smells like that veteran soap - LifebuoyPrice: Rs.499.

For Moles (in case they itch) & Folliculitis ~ Fucibet. Price: Rs.39.90

Pigmentation ~ DepiWhite Intensive Depigment Cream. Claims to fade brown spots & even out complexion. Active ingredients are: Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid, Aluminium Silicate, Ascorbylmethylsilanol pectinate & Lactic Acid. Price: Rs.235/15 ml)

That's all. So far, everything feels better. Even my mole looks normal again. Sometimes you just need to hear it from a doctor, coz Google will straight away make you think you're dying! =D

I've yet to try the Depiwhite Cream, so will let you know if it works after a while. I will send it to some people with thick face pigmentation too, so that I'll get some feedback from them.

Have any of you tried these products before?

Have a great week all! <3

Bio Oil ~ Does It Really Work For Stretch Marks & Scars?

Since last year, I've received a ton of questions regarding stretch marks, so I thought I'd do a post on it. Stretch marks are the #1 skin concern during pregnancy (More than weight gain even, at least for me. And yes, I still can't fit into most of my old clothes! More on that in another post.), because they are, in most cases, invincible (Unlike some political parties who lost the state elections today.) Once they've marked their territory on your body, they become a permanent reminder that prevention really is better than cure.
I have a vivid memory of a person I know always scratching herself when she was pregnant. The scratch marks on her stomach and - I won't write the b-word - chest area were red & bloody! I asked her why, because I didn't know about these things called 'Stretch Marks' back then. She had this relaxed smile on her face, and said, "It's sooo satisfying to scratch until my skin bleeds." Ya, it's quite psycho. But I've been there - with mosquito bites.
I used only Bio Oil all through my pregnancy, and I'd been using it on old stretch marks and scars for years before. I won't bore you by making you read a lot, and get right to the point(s)!
First thing, I got no stretch marks on my tummy after pregnancy. Zero. Thank Goodness Bio Oil!

When did I start to apply? I found out I was pregnant in February '14, and I started using it religiously after showers around the last couple of weeks in March. So, there wasn't much itching, and I didn't feel my skin stretching & losing its elasticity during those 9 months. I think you can start with any other dry skin lotion in the beginning. You're good as long as you keep your skin moisturized.

How much to apply, where, when? All around my tummy, yes, but I also applied it on my lower back, hips and derriere. Basically, where you're most likely to expand during pregnancy. I apply after showers, and sometimes before bedtime. Generously.
How many bottles I used during the Pregnancy? As you can see, I'd been using five 60ml bottles. There was a 6th older bottle that I'd discarded.

Does Bio Oil remove old stretch marks? Not completely even after years. I have a few, and with time, Bio Oil has made them less noticeable and less "wormy" looking. I'd say it flattened them. Stretch marks during the early stage are red, and they turn white as they become more permanent. Get them while they're young!

Does Bio Oil remove scars? Again, it helps flatten and lighten some scars. Like keloids. I got my belly button pierced - twice! My body rejected it both times. Now the scar is half the regret it used to be because of my committed relationship with Bio Oil.

Did I mention this post is not sponsored by Bio Oil? Even though I kinda wish it was. Maybe, a lifetime supply?
Price of Bio Oil in India: Rs.450 for 60ml.

I think that's all. I hope I've answered the questions you asked and had in mind. If you have any other that I forgot to mention, feel free to ask!

Good Luck to all the lades who are expecting....shoo stretch marks!

Until next time.......

OUTSTANDING Beauty Products Of 2014

Hi, Everyone! =) Please don't hate me for being away for 3 weeks! I was in my hometown for 2 weeks.... then I got the flu when I got back. I couldn't wait to come back here & wish you all A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. I hope 2015 will bring you all the things you wish & pray for! BIG Hugs<3

Let's rewind to year 2014 a little & take a look at the beauty products that really stood out. There were so many great products that came to mind, but I carefully selected only products that I really really LOVED using - most of them everyday. I excluded "fancy" products, and put in more "practical" products for every budget.....

1. MAC Fluidline Brow Gelcreme, Rs.1150 ~ Best.Brow.Product.Ever! It defines & sets brows, it's waterproof and makes brows look really well-groomed. My shade is Dirty Blonde. Available in 2 more shades - Redhead & Deep Dark Brunette. Price: Rs.1100.
2. Inglot Nail Enamel #356 ~ Most-used nail paint of 2014. I just love this color on both my toes and fingers. I felt safe using it during my pregnancy months too, coz it does not contain toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or camphor. Swatched here. Price: Rs.600.
3. Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara (Waterproof) ~ The most memorable  mascara of 2014. When you layer it 3-4 times, your lashes could be mistaken for falsies! Price: Rs.350.
4. Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal in Just Black ~ So black, so soft, so overused by moi. More pics & swatched here. Price: Rs.650.
5. Street Wear Color Rich Compact Powder ~ This has made its way into my handbag. I love how non-powdery & lightweight it is for a pressed powder. My shade is Neutral - Swatched here. Price: Rs.170.
6. Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Mauve It Over ~ When I bought this, I didn't think much of it. Little did I know it was going to be my favorite matte nude lipstick. I wore it here. Price: Rs.764 from UK.
7. Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Peach Pop ~ It's perfection! I use a small stippling brush so that I don't mess up the design too soon. Will post swatches of it sometime. Price: Rs.2100 (You might get it cheaper online!)
8. Nivea Fruity Shine Watermelon ~ Smells and looks yummy. The shade is a really pretty raspberry pink. I couldn't show you coz I'd used it all up! Price: Rs.140.
9. L'Oreal True Match Foundation ~ Fail-proof base for me. My shade is Golden Beige. See how it transforms my skin here. Price: Rs.995.
10. MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist ~ After over 2 years, it's still one of my most favorite cream eyeshadows. I know it's been featured too many times on here, but I used it almost daily last year. It's my too-lazy-to-do-eye-makeup go-to product. Swatched here. Price: Rs.1100 (Probably more now that MAC has hiked up their prices.)
11. Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion ~ After Baby CZ arrived, both Mr.CZ's and my hands became so dry/rough/cracked like sandpaper because of a hand sanitizer we kept using like overly-cautious first-time parents that we were. So much so that they actually hurt...no, stung! We tried this out and.... we were healed!!! Price: Rs.60/100ml.
12. Olay Total Effects Day Cream Normal ~ I took a break from this for a few months, and that's all it took for me to realize how much this cream suits my skin (Combination). It really does even out the skin's texture & minimizes pores, like it claims. Price: Rs.349/20g (travel-size)
13. Bio Oil ~ Believe the hype, people! ZERO stretch marks after pregnancy! A detailed post is coming soon. Price: 450/60ml
14. L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray ~ Curling hair without this is a waste of time! I say this because I had to live without it for a while - after returning to India, coz it's not easily available here. You can find it in some Beauty Salons (some that have it actually refuse to sell it! =\ ). I got it from Bella Madonna Salon. Price: Rs.575/500ml.
15. Sunsilk Natural Recharge Strong & Abundant Conditioner ~ With Ginseng Root & Oil, and it's Paraben-free. I've used both the shampoo & conditioner from this range, but weirdly, I find that this conditioner works better with other shampoos. Price: Rs.144/180ml.

Hope you enjoyed my first blog post of 2015.

Would love it if you too shared at least 1 OUTSTANDING product that you discovered in 2014.

Good Day, Everyone.

Talk again shortly.

P.S. Baby CZ is doing well. He's growing up so fast...the buttons on his onesies keep popping! =D

Keeping It Simple Skin Care Products

SNORING. I don't do it, and I can't can't can't sleep with people who do. Oh, the things I do to make husband stop snoring - when he does snore, only sometimes, when he's very exhausted (Thank Goodness!) I pinch his nostrils so he'll breathe through his nose, and when I can't reach his nose, I take his hand and shake shaKE SHAKE it really hard until he stirs.
However, during the last 2 weeks, husband told me that I'd been snoring! Multiple times! So you can  imagine how exhausting it has been in MommyLand. That means I can no longer spend more than a few minutes doing my face each day, and the number of products I'm using have reduced.
Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes, Rs.50 (7 wipes) ~ I ran out of Cleansing Oil, and my favorite MAC Cleanse Off Oil was Out Of Stock the last time, so I've been using different types of wipes & cleansing pads. These are my favorite, coz they do the job efficiently + they remove waterproof mascara as well.
Clean & Clear Morning Energy Energizing Lemon Face Wash, Rs.99 ~  Simply, a nice refreshing facial cleanser. It is not the same as my favorite Clean & Clear Morning Energy Skin Brightening Facial Scrub, but they look and smell similar.
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream, Rs.599 ~ I needed a new eye cream, and this has been working quite well on the fine lines under my eyes. It has Retinol & Hyaluronic Acid - two ingredients that are famous for reducing wrinkles.
ZA True White Emulsion, Rs.899 ~ I'm really liking this. It's like a serum-cum-moisturizer. It has a runny consistency and makes my skin look dewy and luminous.
La-Roche Posay Effaclar A.I. Targeted Breakout Corrector, Rs.890 ~ I couldn't rave about this little tube enough. It is my go-to when I get a horrendous pimple. I recently got a huge on my nose, and it disappeared in 2 days without any scarring.
Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm, Rs.100 (Free with a Nivea Body Lotion) ~ I was surprised how effective this is! After my delivery and stay at the hospital, my lips cracked like anything. This healed them completely.
Water ~ And lastly, good ol' H2O. Lots & LOTS of it! I think I drink about 3 liters per day.

So, that's all I'm currently using.
No special (read: pricey) Cleanser,
No Scrub,
No Toner,
No Night Cream

Good news is, my skin is doing okay. It just shows that we don't really need a lot or pricey products to maintain healthy skin.

What simple skin care products are you loving these days?

Okay, I gotta go! My son is waking up now.
I guess now I have to keep my blog posts simple too, and I shouldn't blabber to muc....
