EOTD: Liquid Lipstick Liner

Eyes Of The Day

I've always wanted to wear a coral eyeliner exactly like this shade, but I've never found one.
Thanks to liquid lipsticks, now I don't need to wish for one anymore, and...umm... once wondered if a matte nail polish would work.

Once! I said once

NEVER put nail polish on your eyelids!

Pink Glam Eyes & Lips Combination

You know that feeling when you finish watching the finale of a TV series? Like something died inside you? Ya, that's the feeling I'm feeling these days - after I finished watching The Missing. It's such a brilliant show with an ending that still haunts me days later. Do watch it if you're into mystery.

So....if you're wondering what makeup I wore on Valentine's Day, this is it. I didn't get time to click photos that day, so I recreated the look. Well.... just eyes & lips, because a full LOTD with presentable hair is almost impossible for me to do these days! Even on V-Day, I had to put my son on a chair opposite me while I did my hair! He stopped crying & watched  =D

Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal: Just Black, Just Green

'This long-lasting, multi-tasking eye pencil gives you 3-in-1 benefits of an Eyeliner, Kajal and an Eye Shadow. It helps you to achieve the mysterious smoky-eyed look which will last for up to 12 hours. It comes with a built-in smudger that is as soft as a cushion which can be used to demystify the art of smoky eyes. The intense color and matte texture of the pencil adds definition and drama to your eyes. It has waterproof property and does not transfer.' ~ Colorbar.
You know how sometimes you tightline your upper lash line, but you don't want it to transfer to your waterline below? Maybe you want to use a white/nude pencil on that area, or you just want to leave it bare. It used to be almost impossible with other kajals and most kohls.....until now. Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal dries in seconds and sets into a rubber-like finish, which is waterproof & transfer-proof.
I got 2 out of 5 shades that were launched:

Just Black 001: Intense black. Let's call it Lakmé Kohl Ultimate's competition. If you want a slightly more transfer-proof pencil, I guess you could pick this one instead.

Just Green 003: A shimmery forest green, which would make a really nice festive/fall liner.

Inside The Maybelline Insta Glam Box Wedding Edition Red....

I wish there'd be a new RULE for all beauty stores & brands: If a customer buys more than 5 products at once, they should be packed in a special box - like a present. How fun that would be?! The thrill of buying, and then the thrill of 'unboxing' when you get home. Coz everything looks better in a box - even a plain bar of soap! So, you can imagine my excitement when I was opening this orange box.

Maybelline launched 3 types of these wedding boxes ~ Pink, Coral, & Red, all housing 7 products. I will be showing you the contents of the Red one:

Street Wear (By Revlon) Color Rich Range ~ Awesome Budget Buys!

Oh.My!
How.Cute.Are.These?!!!

If you're not familiar with Street Wear, it's a budget/mass brand in India launched by Revlon. It's been there for years. I've always thought their products are fun-looking.

When I spotted this girly comics range yesterday, I got so excited! The same excitement I get when I'm buying a LE MAC collection (with special packaging). Only difference is, I only spent Rs.650 on everything!

I couldn't wait to post pictures of them. I decided to throw in swatches too.

*Not reviews. I don't do reviews anymore.*

Just Kohl Pencil Smoky Eye Makeup ~ Step-By-Step Tutorial

I've gotten quite a few requests to do a very simple look with no eyeshadow, and with a minimum number of products. So here it is!
(This is also how I start off most of my smoky eye makeup looks, whether I'm using a kohl pencil or a cream eyeshadow.)

1. When using a smudgy kohl pencil, do prime lids with an eyeshadow primer first to prevent creasing. Line outer half of top & bottom lash line. Create a wing at the corner by joining both lines. I used brown, but you can use black or any other color. The kohl just has to be one with a blendable velvety texture.

2. Line inner half of top lash line. It doesn't have to look even and neat, coz you'll be smudging it out.

3. Tightline the inner rim of top lash line right at the base of lashes and fill in any gaps.

4. Now it's time to smudge. With a fairly stiff smudger brush, start smudging the edges of the kohl to diffuse the color. *Your brush should touch ONLY the top edges of the line you've drawn, and try not to go near the roots of your lashes.

5. Gradually move the brush up to the crease line. Work with your eye shape. I have hooded lids, so I go up to where my crease is supposed to be.

6. Also smudge the lower lash line. I didn't all the way in, coz I didn't want my eyes to look smaller.

7. It should look something like that once you're done smudging.

8. A fluffy blending brush will blur out any harsh lines and correct unevenness.

9. Curl lashes & apply mascara on top and bottom lashes....and you're DONE!

More: Dab a shimmery eyeshadow on the center of your lids with your pinky finger. You could also apply a black liquid or gel liner, depending on the look you're going for. You can do anything now that you've achieved the base of any smoky eye.

*(As always, please excuse any errors in the explanations! I usually have to come back and edit.)
I used only 6 products for this look:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer ~ Not shown
Bourjois Kohl & Contour Eye Pencil Brun Design ~ LOVE! Product Of The Week (look on the right sidebar of this blog)
Colorbar Smokin' Eyes Smudger Brush
Shu Uemura Gold Eyelash Curler
L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara

I hope you found this tutorial helpful & I will be posting the other promised Glitter Tutorial next week!

Btw, did you How I Met Your Mother fans watch the series finale? I watched it last week.

I still can't decide whether I liked the end or not, but I'm not disappointed & angry with it, like a lot of people are =D

A FB status: "I will never forgive them for how they ended HIMYM! I want to cry!!! T_T"

I wonder whom she wanted to cry for.

So! Another tv show is g-o-n-e *sighs*

At least there's still Game Of Thrones!

How To Apply False Lashes ~ Step-by-Step Tutorial

I've had quite a few requests for this tutorial, so I wanted to to get it in before this year ends. It's the right time too, I guess, with all the parties coming up. Maybe those of you have never ever worn false lashes can practice now, and be ready to glam up your eyes even more on New Year's Eve!

Step-By-Step Tutorial:
[You can click to enlarge pic]

Step 1: Apply black liquid or gel liner. I'm using Bourjois Liner Feutre Felt Tip Eyeliner.

Step 2: Curl your natural lashes, so they don't fall limp when you layer the false ones on top of them. I'm using Shu Uemura Gold Eyelash Curler.

Step 3: Most times, falsies can be to straight and stiff, so curve the lashes inwards so they mimic the shape of your lash line. This will prevent the ends from sticking out of your lash line. I can't remember which lashes these are exactly, but I think they are Eylure Katy Perry Oh,Honey! which came with the glue. Shown here

Step 4: Glue a dot on both ends of lashes. The ends are most likely to come off, so I like to make sure they're glued properly.

Step 5: Apply glue on the whole band or vein. Try not to smudge it too much on the lashes or they'll stick to your natural lashes. Wait about 20 seconds for the glue to get tacky.

Step 6: Hold them pointing the band downwards and try to place on the center of lash line first. Do it carefully, so the glued ends don't touch your lid.

Step 7: With tweezers or an eyelash applicator, stick the outer end. Do it carefully, so the glued band doesn't touch your lid. I'm using Tweezerman Tweezers.

Step 8: Check if inner end aligns with the starting point of your natural lashes. If it looks too long, pull from outer end. This is easily done when you do it quickly while glue hasn't dried completely.

Step 9: Stick the inner end. See the end point? It won't poke the tear duct.

Step 10: Use the end of your tweezers to press the band down. Make sure there are no gaps.

Step 11: With a finger, lift both your natural and false lashes, and press down to make sure the false lash is sitting close to your natural lash line. Also pinch them both together so the false lashes don't point up too much.

Step 12: The glue usually dries clear, but sometimes you still see white spots. Use black liner to darken the spots.

Step 13: Apply black mascara to blend the false and real lashes together. Coat the base of your natural lashes well. This will stiffen your natural lashes and help them hold up the false ones. I prefer to use an old-ish mascara that's dried up a bit for this.

DONE!

MEOW! Avon Cat Manicure Set | Mega Effects Mascara, Etc.

Oh, so very MEOW! Doesn't she look fabulous?!
So, one Friday evening, when I reached home, I saw a Avon brochure outside our front door, leaning on the wall next to the doormat. It felt kind of surreal. In August, I'd made this post about the Mega Effects Mascara, and then I felt lazy about ordering it on Ebay. When I laid eyes on the brochure, the mascara was the only thing that popped in my head. I thought, 'Meant To Be'. Tucked in the brochure was a receipt/order form where I was supposed to write down what I wanted to order, and on it was also a note saying I just had to leave the brochure out again on Monday morning, so the Avon rep could come and collect it. Now that, ladies, is a super cool way to shop. Doorstep Shopping.
As I was flipping through the brochure, I saw something else that I ended up wanting more than the mascara. A pink heart-shaped Cat Manicure Set. In under 5 seconds, it stole the show - like an underdogcat.....
It's made of some kind of leather. Plain pink at the back. I thought the pink bow would be a real pink ribbon. It's not, in case you're also delusional... hehe.

It holds Scissors, Nail Cutter, Cuticle Cutter, Tweezers, Filer. LOVE that the heart print!

Easy Bronzed Chocolate Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hi All!

Are you mad at me for the lack of posts this week? Sorry about that. So many things went wrong during the last few days. Hope this tutorial on my current go-to eye makeup will make up for it. It's easy to do, and the colors go with everything and every occasion, especially Fall.

 1. Apply matte brown eyeshadow only on the crease. Layer it to gradually build the color as desired. If you have a deep socket and a big lid, blend the eyeshadow a little bit down.
2. Apple metallic bronze eyeshadow on lid. Also apply it on your lower lash line. Sort of join then in a C at the outer edge.
3. It should look like that. You can always re-apply both eyeshadows to intensify them.
4. Take a brown gel liner or pencil and apply on lower lash line starting from outer corner, and bring it inwards but stop somewhere in the middle, not going all the way in.
5. Use same brown liner on top lash line. Join it in a V with lower liner similar to what I did here. I won't line all the way to inner corner. I will stop at the part where my lash line begins to curve down.
6. It should look like that. See how it blends with everything because it's brown?
7. Apply black mascara on top and bottom lashes. I could have chosen a better mascara, but they all need to be repurchased.
DONE! =)

Tutorial: Winged Cut Crease Eye Makeup

Hello! Hope you all had a very Happy Friendship Day. I thought about making a quick post yesterday, and after pondering and searching my head for a meaningful and heartfelt message, I couldn't find it. I decided against a cartoon card from Google Images, and took a nap instead.
I'll wish you, my blog reader friends, with this step-by-step tutorial on how I created the Winged Cut Crease EOTD I posted last week here
***The lighting changed in between because of the black eye shadow, so the pics didn't come out the same. I hate it when this happens.
1. Take a gel liner and draw 1st bit of line. Curve it according to the shape of your crease. If you have a deep crease line, draw it there. I used Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Gel Liner & Inglot 30T Eyeliner Brush. *Don't press the brush too much while drawing so it doesn't come out too thick.
*My gel liner had dried up quite a bit, so it was difficult to make the line sharp.
2. Draw 2nd center bit.
3. Draw the 3rd bit and curve it up towards the end of your eyebrow.
4. Draw downwards making a V. ***Try not to join from the tip straight away. That way it stays pointy when you start filling in. I hope the pic explains it better than I do =D
5. Draw on outer corner of lower lash line. It'll make it easier to line the outer edge straight.
6. Join the lines in the center. Also draw gel liner on lower lash line all the way to tear duct. Here, I mimicked the shape and curved the line out slightly as shown in Pic 7.
7.  Take a matte black eyeshadow with a pointy eyeliner brush or any small brush and shade inside the black gel liner as shown. I used Urban Decay Blackout from Naked 2 Palette.
8. Apply a shimmery eyeshadow on the center of lid. I used Urban Decay Half Baked (Gold) & YDK (bronze), both from Naked 2 Palette
9.  Apply the black e/s on the outer edge again over the outer edges of the shimmery e/s so it looks like the gold is peeking through the black.
10. Apply the same shimmery gold e/s on the inner tear duct area and lower lash line inside the black liner.
11. Line top lash line close to lashes with the same black gel liner.
12. Apply mascara on top & bottom lashes. I wore False Lashes here. I used Eylure Katy Perry Oh, My! lashes.

Maybelline Brown Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner ~ Revisited

Brown eyeliner is my go-to product on "no-makeup-look" days. Like, when I'm only staying home and I don't want to wear makeup but I want my lash-less eyes to pop. I just tightline and smudge a brown pencil (always Bourjois Effet Smoky Pencil in Smoked Brown) on my waterline. It makes me feel better about staying in mismatched pyjamas & not wanting to brush my hair.
This is a my 2nd pot. I bought my first brown Maybelline Gel Liner from Malaysia during the time when I'd just started blogging. It is still there in our home in India, and I think it hasn't dried up completely.

Battle Of The Lakmé Eye Pencils: Eyeconic Kajal 'Vs' Kohl Ultimate

A handful of readers wanted a comparison between these 2 Lakmé eye pencils, so here goes....
I have reviewed both of them:
  • Lakmé Eyeconic Kajal Review ~ here
  • Lakmé Nine To Five Kohl Ultimate Review ~ here

One is definitely better than the other. Let's find out which one!
Price:   Eyeconic Kajal-Rs.199  |   Kohl Ultimate- Rs.650.
Pigmentation: They are both black, but Kohl Ultimate is more intense. Also, I had to press Eyeconic Kajal harder to draw the swatch above.
Pencil Softness: Kohl Ultimate is softer, gentler & glides more smoothly. Eyeconic Kajal gets harder especially in winters, and sometimes I get that something-is-in-my-eye feeling when I have it on. I never get that with Kohl Ultimate.
Comfort: As I'm writing this, I have Kohl Ultimate on my left eye & Eyeconic Kajal on my right eye. My right eye wants to blink more, left eye is relaxed.

Get The Look ~ Demi-Eyeliner

Do you frequently make a mistake while applying eyeliner and you end up drawing it thicker than you want it to be? I've lost count of the number of times! To make it (look) worse, I don't have much lid space to spare for rubbish like that. So for my everyday look, especially when I'm in a hurry, I resort to the demi-eyeliner (or half-eyeliner)
If you have hooded lids like mine, this style will give the part where they begin to droop down a little bit of lift.
***Demo on the right is done on a photo from another tutorial & the liner is a drawing, not a real eyeliner =D
