Katrina Kaif's Lipstick In ZNMD & Aamsutra Ad ~ Reader Query

Reader: "I watched Zindagi Na Milage Dobara this weekend end and I was pretty fascinated with Katrina's lipstick. It was a reddish/pinkish color with a wee bit of brown shade in it.
Do you know what color or which brand it could be?  I think she wears the same in the new maza add too."

I just put this pic for reference.

Me: I haven't seen the movie, but the ad I've seen many many times. Slice is my favorite cold drink. I'd say the lipstick falls in the plum family. Looks like the lippie was applied very sparingly, or maybe it's just lip liner & lip balm. It's about time these ads & movies came with makeup breakdowns too, no? Maybe "Make-up done by so-and-so. For complete list of products used on the heroine, visit her blog/website at www.so-and-so.com."

So, I went through my lipstick collection & the internet and I found some shades that look similar to the one on Kat:
  • MAC Captive ~ Swatch here
  • Lakme Enrich Satin #134 ~ This is the closest shade I have myself, and it looks quite similar on my lips. However, it looks lighter & more pink on camera. Swatches here
  • Last shade in Lakme Lip Palette ~ Swatch here
  • I think I have seen a similar shade among Lakme Lip Love Lipsticks- maybe Plum Pout.
Now I want to watch the movie too, so I can be more precise! =D

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Rihanna's Fragrance Reb'l Fleur

Rihanna's Fragrance Reb'l Fleur features notes of tuberose, hibiscus, violet and coconut, and comes packaged in a bottle designed to resemble the heel of a shoe when turned upside down.

Reb'l Fleur takes its name from Rihanna's tattoo "Rebelle Fleur" inked on her neck.

I'm intrigued by the coconut note in it, but I will probably skip this fragrance simply because I don't like the bottle very much, but the ad is so fabulous & mesmerizing!

Price ~ $49 for 1.7 oz bottle.

My Perfume Collection & Top 6 (Valentine's Day Special)

"A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting" ~ Christian Dior

Who likes perfumes?! I'm more of a collector than a wearer of perfumes. So for me, it's not the perfume that matters, it's the bottle. But if both are fabulous then I'll actually wear them.
After hearing that Lady Gaga is going to launch a perfume that smells like bodily fluids (who's gonna buy that?!), I was inspired to gather all my perfumes for a photoshoot. Weird, I know, but maybe I just needed to replace some rather disturbing images in my head with pretty pictures.
Valentine's Day is approaching too, and perfumes make disappointment-proof gifts to put in that list of things-you-want for your confused significant other to pick from, or to simply gift your fabulous self (why wait for a man to gift you pretty things?!)

So, here's my collection- half of them gifted, mostly by women ;). Let's start with the pinks...

Pinks
Incanto Dream by Salvatore Ferragamo, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, Azzaro Pink Tonic

My Perfect Imperfections. Baring it all!

I know I'm quite late with this tag, but I didn't have the time (and courage) to do it until now. I was tagged by Anju to do this a few months back.
Basically, I have to list my 3 imperfections & 3 things I love about myself. So here goes...

My 3 Imperfections:
  1. Skin ~ When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it's a female dog. I've had one pimple after another since last December. Permanent scars- pock mark on my forehead, scratch mark on my cheek (I'm not sure if it was the nanny or the mother). The biggest evil of all? Pigmentation/Melasma. It's like a time bomb! Right now I have clusters of dark spots in areas of my face, and if I stop taking care or GET KNOCKED UP, they will increase in size and spread all over my face! Ahhh....!!! Babies or a flawless face? One day we will find out.
  2. Uneven lower teeth ~ Actually my top ones were uneven too, but I got them fixed. The lower ones were a lost cause. I'm thinking Invisalign this year, although I could live with uneven bottom teeth.
  3. Nose ~ I wish it was shorter and 'cute as a button'

Genelia D'Souza in Fast Track Ad Makeup & Tutorial

This makeup is inspired by Genelia D'souza's look in the Fast Track ad. You know, the one outside a club. I think she looks very glam in the ad, with the bangs and all. Too bad bangs don't suit me.

Apart from the smoky eyes, I can't really make out which shades of makeup she has on in the ad. So this is more my take on it.

Rihanna in Rockstar Inspired Look

This look is inspired by Rihanna's look in her music video, Rockstar. I liked the look so much, that I bought the Nyx Penelope lipstick especially for it. And today I felt wild enough to finally do it. My skin tone here is actually much darker coz I used a deeper foundation shade.

Sophie Ellis Bexter 'Not Giving Up On Love' Makeup

If you're familiar with trance or disco music, you must know who Sophie Ellis Bexter is. She's the one who sang 'Murder On The Dance Floor', but I never like her songs until recently, when she collaborated with Armin Van Buuren (DJ) in a song ~ 'Not Giving Up on Love'. Last Friday, I went to a club coz Armin was playing there as part of his India tour. So fun!
Sophie's look in the music video is so fabulous- Thick black winged eyeliner and Coral lips

So I thought I'd copy the look. *The flash altered the real color of my lipstick, which is a lot more orange in daylight.

A Birthday Wish For Rekha & Tips To Get Her Look (For Halloween?)

♥ ~ Happy Birthday Rekha ~ ♥
"No one can know the real Rekha, because the real Rekha lies somewhere in her fantasy" ~ Simi Garewal.

Today is our very own Indian beauty icon, Rekha's birthday. She turns 56 today, but the diva in her has not withered at all.
She's glamorous, classy and always very composed. Her tactfulness when talking about the difficult life she's had is admirable.
My favorite movie of hers is 'Khoon Bhari Maang' among some others too :)
To read more about her life, click here

Here is my attempt ((in a jiffy) to look A BIT like her...

Here's another one. Same makeup and everything except for a few changes here and there. Although I should have applied a bit more brown eyeshadow on my bottom lash line. Used sindoor for the first time in my life, and it got SO messy I couldn't shape it on the hairline and it smudged on my nose too =D

*The nose ring is a sticker =D

Make-up Tips To Look Like Rekha:
  • Unique brows. Her brows are never over-tweezed or rounded. They are almost straight with just a slight arch.
  • Feline eyes ~ White eyeliner on waterline, Black eyeliner on top lash line, falsies, contact lenses sometimes (Grey, hazel)
  • Pouty Lips. Almost always with dark lips: Red, brown, burgundy, her lips always stand out. Use a lip liner and line a little outside your lips to make them appear fuller.
  • Beauty spot. Her most famous trademark on her left upper lip, although sometimes it is seen on the right side. I used L'oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss coz it has a stiff pointy brush for control, and then I patted a bit of medium brown matte eyeshadow on top.

Are there any Rekha fans out there? Do drop your own birthday wishes to her below.

Genelia D'Souza's Beauty Essentials

Genelia D'Souza is all about fresh make-up and fuss-free hair. She prefers to go au naturel most of the time as she has a clean-face fetish, which is why her biggest fear is bad make-up and skin breakouts.
This month's Vogue (Indian Edition) tells us what this pretty lass, who captured many hearts with her breakthrough performance in the hit movie of 2008 ~ Jaane Tu.... Ya Janne Na, has in her vanity case.

~ Skincare ~
Her skin care essentials include Clarins Hydraquench Rich Cream, Clarins Hydracare Tinted Moisturizer and Elizabeth Arden Good Morning Skin Serum.

~ Make-up ~

Foundation ~ Benefit Non-Fiction Liquid Foundation Volume 2. She has stuck to this base from the very beginning of her career.
Blush ~ Swears by M.A.C Blushcreme in Posey
Eyes~ She usually opts for extremely dark eyes or very nude eyes. She uses M.A.C Eye Kohl in Smolder and M.A.C eyeshadows in shades of black. For nude eyes, she goes for Chambor smudge pencil in Ebony Black and Lancome Definicils High Definition Mascara.
Lips~ Prefers fresh shades like orange and neutral pink by Bobbi Brown and sometimes plum shades by M.A.C. Lip gloss is reserved for a quick fix.

~ Hair Care ~

She is a L'Oreal loyalist and uses L'Oreal Professionel Liss Ultime Smoothing Night Treatment and their hair capsules to treat brittle hair. She gets Kerastase deep conditioning treatment once a week, and goes for a good volumising blow-dry most of the time.

Somebody to ♥ Leighton Meester's Music Video & Make-up?

I just have to post this, because I love this video so much! Blair Waldorf's...I mean, Leighton Meester's make-up in this video is HOT! Who said smokey eyes don't go with red lips? I'm so gonna dupe this look this winter. The song is probably the best upbeat song I've heard this year too.

I'm so hooked on Gossip Girl just because of Blair Waldorf's impeccable sense of style and yeah, there's a certain fascination with her 'spoiled-catty-insecure-vulnerable' complexities too.
It truly 'is' my one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite =)
Fashion magazines have taken a backseat since I started watching the series.

♥ Je t'adore...Je t'adore ♥

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
