My Hunt For Dotted Stockings & Found These...

Ever since dotted stockings became a trend, I'd been hunting for a pair. I didn't find them here and I didn't find them in Kuala Lumpur back in September either. I got so desperate I even thought about buying a plain pair of  black stockings and using black fabric paint to put dots on them. Okay, honestly, I just thought of that. I didn't get that desperate.
For the record, I don't like the ones with BIG penny-sized dots. Small beauty spot dots for me.
So, on Christmas Eve day, I found a pair with heart-shaped dots from Aldo. I wouldn't have bought them if they costed more than what they did, which was Rs.450, coz they didn't look like they'll survive a minor scratch from a dry cuticle, let alone a chipped nail! And they weren't packed in a polythene packet, they were just displayed barely for all to feel & scratch! I don't know what Aldo was thinking! =[

True story is: I was in Aldo with a friend, told the SA I was buying the stockings, she took it to the cash counter, then I got distracted looking at sunglasses & earrings, and left the store totally forgetting about the stockings! Of course, I remembered a few feet later and went back to actually buy them.

Since I'm doing stockings, I thought I'd show you these ones that I got from Kuala Lumpur as well...

Yup I 'settled' for these since I couldn't find dotted ones. Something is always better than nothing, right? I think they were about the same price as the Aldo ones.

By the way, some people call these "Tights". Like, 'dotted tights' or 'patterned tights'. I can't bring myself to call them Tights, coz tights to me are the thick and opaque knit ones. If they're sheer, I always call them "Stockings". But yeah, I guess tights seem appropriate for sheer ones too. What about you? Tights or stockings?

Ins & Outs This Month

I thought I'd let you in on some of my Ins & Outs of the first month of the new year. I kinda liked doing this post. It was like getting to know myself again and almost like organizing my mind, in a way. Towards the end of last year, I was a little bit lost and confused, coz there was too much stuff going on...
Anyways, getting back to topic...

Ins

  • Shower creams- It's time to ditch the shower gels and reach for creamy body washes. I'm eyeing the TBS Coconut & Shea Shower Creams, and Dove Cream Oil Body washes. I want them all!
  • Red! Red lips, red dress, red coat.  I didn't sport any red during December at all, so I thought I'd start now. I also haven't worn red clothing in a really long time! It used to be my favorite color. I got a military style coat from Forever 21 recently. As for red lipsticks, I like- MAC Venomous Villains lipstick Heartless, Make up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in Moulin Rouge, Revlon Colorburst True Red, Maybelline Color Sensational Fatal Red.
  • Military-style coats/jackets. Red, white, an bright colored ones are my favorites. Forever 21 sells some at affordable prices.
  • Dotted Stockings. These are quite hard to find in Delhi right now, but I managed to find a similar pair  (will show you)

Outs

  • Painted toenails. I decided not to paint my toe nails all winter, coz I wear socks all the time. I'll let them breathe till....well, when I wear open toed shoes again
  • Gold makeup- eyeshadows, nail polishes, lipsticks etc. I was tired of seeing gold right from Diwali till the end of last year, so I won't be wearing anything gold until the next festive season, unless I really need to (maybe not even then!)
  • Liquid Foundation. I haven't been using my liquid foundations these days, coz I prefer creamy ones in winter. Bye bye Revlon Colorstay Foundation for now.
  • Procrastination. It eats you up & fills you with guilt. Why wait for later when you can do it right now? Just do it (tick!)
Well, those are some of my Ins & Outs. What are yours?

Lakme Lip Love Lipstick ~ Love Haze Photos, Review & Swatches

Lakme Lip Love Lipsticks are a rage these days! After seeing the red packaging with the heart and all, I think they should have launched them around Valentine's Day. Not that I'm complaining. I mean, the sooner, the better, right?

But if any boys are reading this, these lipsticks are great gifts for women on Valentine's Day. You're welcome! :)

Found Some LA Colors

A few days back, I came across LA Colors cosmetics and OPI Nail Polishes at a kiosk in Mega Mall, Gurgaon. The woman there does nails too- acrylic and stuff

I bought the 5 Color Metallic Eyeshadows in Circus. 5 bright & vibrant colors- Purple, Magenta Pink, Yellow, light Green, Electric Blue.

I bought it for Rs.270. Real cheap for the pigmented quality of the eyeshadows. The palette is sturdy too, and come with a dual-sided sponge tip applicator.

Bourjois India New Launches

My first haul in the New Year ~ Bourjois! It just had to be. I got the much-awaited Bourjois Volumizer Mascara today. It is priced reasonably at Rs.550. I can't wait for tomorrow when I can try it out! Will review it in a few days.

The New Little Round Pot Eyeshadows  have also been launched.

These are paraben & fragrance free & contains upto 80% of mineral pigments. They didn't have all the shades in Lifestyle. I wanted the shimmery purple one (2nd in 3rd row) but they didn't have it. When I swatched them, they felt very soft and blendable and not hard like the old single eyeshadows. The shimmery ones however are not so pigmented and the glitter is kinda 'loose' and  doesn't cling to the skin.

The other thing I bought is Bourjois So Laque nail polish in Tangerine Fatal, which I really really wanted ...

Tangerine Fatal (Rs.350)

Sorry, I'm not able to click photos right now. I'll surely do that later this week.
Bye for now :)

Happy New Year & OOTN

Here's wishing you all dear readers and blogger friends a very Happy New Year! I want to thank you all for all your support & the uncountable wonderful comments and encouraging words. I heart you all! ♥
I hope you all had a fun New Year's Eve. I had a good night, but some things went wrong, but I don't want to think about that anymore...back to happy thoughts... why start the year thinking about the past, right?
Anyhoo, here's what I wore last night (OOTN: Outfit of the night)....

Look Ideas For A 70's Retro New Year's Party (Requested)

This was requested by Rajni, who has to attend a year end 70's Retro themed party. I hope I'm not too late with this post! She said she "doesn't want to look like a clown" haha. I completely understand, coz I have never been to one of those parties, so I'm a little out of wits myself & quite nervous about this post. So, I'll try my best to simplify my recommendations. If I were going to a 70's party, I'd probably combine Bobby's (Dimple Kapadia) , Zeenat Aman, Nicole Richie & Mila Kunis (That 70's Show) in my look. In simple words, a mini dress or skirt with a floral top, knee length high heel boots or platform stilettos (most probably boots coz it's winter) and a head band.
For those not comfortable in short thingies and look like a whale in bell-bottom pants, pick wide leg pants instead. Wide leg pants and trousers are more flattering on most body shape.

I like this white shirt & wide leg jeans combo.

Mac Venomous Villains Haul

Mac launched the Venomous Villains & A Tartan Tale in New Delhi last week but didn't launch both the collections in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon coz their stock got stuck in customs. I was going crazy! They kept saying they'll launch it "tomorrow"  for 4 days! I was so stressed out, but I'm guessing so were they by my incessant phone calls =D. But they managed to launch it yesterday evening finally...phew! Otherwise I was ready to get "pissed" drunk on New Year's Eve. I know I write "drunk" a lot, but it's just for effect. I'm not a sponge ;)
I just got 3 things:
  • Bite Of An Apple Blush from the Evil Queen collection: Soft coral pink with a matte finish
  • Heartless Lipstick from Cruella De Vil (Amplified Creme): Cherry Red
  • Violetta Lipstick from Maleficent collection (Amplified Creme) : A bright clean violet purple shade
I was tempted to get the Magically Cool Liquid Powder from Dr.Facilier collection, but I thought Rs.1700 was too much for a shimmery powder that I'll rarely (read: never) use. I also wanted Toxic Tale from Evil Queen but they didn't launch it here unfortunately.

Bite Of An Apple (Rs.1210)

Bite Of An Apple blush was the only thing I wanted most from the Venomous Villains, and I must say it's worth the wait. It is SO GORGEOUS!!!

Lip Ice In India Now

I was jerked from my zen state of mind (my way of preventing motion sickness. Zen = thinking about shoes & makeup ;)) when I saw this Lip Ice ad at Ambience Mall yesterday while we were on the way to park the car. Actually my man spotted it and told me coz he saw how gaga I was over them in Malaysia last year. I bought so much I even got some freebies. Lip Ice is only available in Malaysia and some parts of Asia and America.
I've just used the Lip Ice lip balms that came in a jar and the ones that change color, and loved them!

Flavors ~ Strawberry, Orange, Lemon, Blueberry. The first pink one must be a white stick that changes to a nice pink once applied on the lips. No, it's not like that thing called "Lip Magic" or something that you get here (I saw it in my hometown) which turned to a garish pink. The Lip Ice one changes to a really nice rosy pink, almost MLBB (my lips but better) when lightly applied. It's like a glossy/non-drying version of a lip tint.
The ad was there, but they didn't mention where to get it, so I don't know at the moment.

Update: Click HERE for photos of all the Lip Ice Lip Balms

Christmas Wishes, Lots of Photos & OOTD

If you follow me on Twitter, you'd know that my tree collapsed the other day, coz one of the plastic leags of the stand broke. I hugged the tree tight so the decorations wouldn't fall off. Then I was too tired to reshape it, let alone redecorate!  Anyways, here it is, since so many of you wanted to see it. It's small like our apartment :)

Don't you just hate wires?! I wish we had those Christmas trees that come with lights in India.

Lmao at that tip =D

Pink Square Cups For Makeup Storage

I store my makeup brushes and pencils in random vases and breakable "Goofy" cups, which I was so bored of. So, when I saw these Melamine square cups at a store recently, I was so excited! They were available in a variety colors- pink, green, yellow, blue...and more. The store is called Akriti, which sells glasses, cups, candles, and stuff like that. I didn't want to leave the store! I just love being in kitchen & home stores.
Of course I picked these hot pink ones since my dressing room is pink. They are so glossy and fabulous!
