Most Used Beauty Products ~ January '13

I almost didn't publish this even after I've written everything. I don't know, I'm a very unstable person. I clicked this pic last week, and put my used products...then I realized I'd forgotten to put my shampoo & conditioner, a nail polish....a couple more things. Oh, well.

Anyways, these are my most-used products this month....

  • L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil ~  I got sucked into buying this after I saw the ad on tv while watching HIMYM one night (watch it here). It was so enticing, I watched it with my mouth open, and couldn't stop thinking about it until I purchased it (...at the cheapest price, too.) TRUTH: After using it, I found out "Extraordinary" is stretching it a bit. It is  a flowery-smelling hair serum-cum-heat-protector, that has helped the tips of my hair look less brittle, but I don't find it detangling enough. I use it before washing my hair,  before & after blow-drying. I'd still use it, but I sure wouldn't buy it again.

  • Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream ~ Been wearing this almost everyday for over a month now. Not only for review purposes, but because I don't hate it. Review is coming shortly.

  • Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Candy Apple ~ To be honest, I've been wearing this as a lip balm too just because it's always in the kitchen. Review & Swatches here

  • Max Factor 2000 Calorie Curved Brush Mascara ~ LOVE this. It lengthens, it volumizes, it curls. It is definitely better than the False Lash Effect Mascara.

  • Benefit Benetint Lip & Cheek Stain ~ Product Of The Week! Before, I used to wonder what the big deal is with this lip & cheek tint. Now I get it! It's a rose-tinted stain that makes me look blooming (you know, like youthful sweet 16 type...almost). It makes lips look really kissable. Really, I'd want to kiss my own lips hehe.  You know how some lip tints gather up unevenly where your lips meet? That never happens with Benetint. This is a generous sample size that I got free with Marie Claire mag, but I will definitely buy a full size when it's finished.

  • Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette ~ I've been using this palette almost everyday  this month. Probably the same neutral look as well. Review & Swatches here

  • The Body Shop Lily Cole Compact Mirror ~ Because I don't have a big mirror for makeup application, I need one I can hold close to me when applying mascara. This is awesome because it's got a magnifying mirror on one side. Btw, The Body Shop UK is putting this & other good stuff on SALE, so do check it out. I've made good use of it myself. My haul here

What are your most-used beauty products this month?

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Candy Apple

Are you tired of all my Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter reviews? I am very tired of them myself. There's nothing I hate more than repetitiveness. But it snowed yesterday & I really wanted to click photos of a red lipstick against the white backdrop. I didn't want the photos to go to waste (like many many others), so I decided to post these quickly before I go do something in the snow again (omigosh, it's starting to melt!)
I promise. Last Revlon Lip Butter. NO MORE.

Indian Women Reveal Their Make-up Habits & Secrets

This is an infographic that Revlon India sent over after they got the results from polls they conducted in their Facebook page in an attempt to understand Indian women’s habits on cosmetics. More than 70,000 women participated in these polls. All this was part of the launch of the revolutionary Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème

Let's see what my habits & secrets (if that) are:
I am BUGGED most by foundation that.... is too dry to blend effortlessly & end up looking cakey.
I normally apply foundation using..... brush. Sometimes with fingers. If you want to avoid the unnatural look, get a synthetic buffing brush like the Sigma F80
How often do you apply foundation? It's part of my daily makeup routine. It makes everything else look better.... look complete.
How much time do you spend applying makeup? 15-30 mins.
Which compliment would you feel happier to receive? "WOW! Your skin looks flawless! It's glowing! It doesn't look like you have makeup on!"  =D
How many times do you touch up your makeup in a day? Powder- once or twice, depending on the weather. Lipstick- more than 3 times for sure.
What's your skin type? Oily/Combination. Verging on Normal in winters.
[Err... what about "How much are you willing to spend on a foundation?"
I'll answer it anyways: No more than ( Rs.1000 Rs.900 if it's a drugstore brand.]
Good news:  Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème retails for Rs.800. I will be reviewing it soon-ish.

If you feel like it, do copy the questions and jot down your own answers in the comments below =)

2 Holiday Makeup Looks ~ Red 'Vs' Coral

Merry Christmas, Everyone!
This was supposed to be up yesterday, but we were busy, and I was exhausted by evening. So I decided to just sit back and do nothing..... listen to  Last Christmas & All I Want For Christmas Is You....and wait for Christmas Eve!
I couldn't decide which lippie color I wanted to wear, so I wore 2. You know, I don't usually smile wide in my FOTD's because I always end up looking too enthu... like, too much teeth.... sometimes too goofy. But a Holiday/Christmas-themed look is an exception =D

SHOPPED! Revlon (FREE Sequins Nail Polish Alert)

I went into Boots to get a hair dryer. Typical me went straight to the makeup counters first. I decided to pick up some Maybelline products because of the 3 for 2 offer.
I couldn't decide on the last product, so I strolled over to the Revlon counter. There I saw the Sequins Nail Polish displayed proudly. I want it! I want it! Then I saw FREE not for resale, and you get it ONLY if you buy 3 Revlon products. I'd already picked Maybelline products, and we had to get home!
Mr.CZ: "So are you going to start all over again?"
Me: "Nah, it's okay. I'll come pick it up another time."
In the queue to the cash counter:

Mr.CZ: "Are you happy with the stuff you got?"
Me: "Not so much. I think I'd be happier with the Revlon products. Sequins!"
Mr.CZ: "Come on then. Go get the Revlon products only."
Haha.... I think he knows me better now. Remember the Accessorize Bow Necklace episode? Btw, I just picked these products in a hurry, but they're all nice....

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Pink Truffle Review & Swatches

I've been wearing Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Pink Truffle almost everyday since I got it. It's so addictive, it'll probably be finished in another 2 weeks!
Pink Truffle is a rosy pink shade with little shimmers that give it that extra glossy look. Compared to Revlon Rosy Nude Colorburst Lipstick, it's lighter & pinker (judging for the photos. I don't have that with me)
It's unscented & tasteless. No truffles.
Wear: It does not necessarily need to be touched up for 3-4 hours when I don't disturb it. It somehow wears longer than Sweet Tart

FOTD ~ Side Swept Bangs & Wearing Recent Purchases

It's -1 degree in Newcastle right now....brrr.... my feet are never warm!
I've become hyperactive after midnight these day, and I actually cut my bangs at around 2 am last night. I always regret cutting bangs, but this time I feel okay about them because my hair has become very flat in this freezing weather. I'm actually in the mood for a drastic hair makeover, but I'll let them get healthy first.... or not, I'm an impatient curious cat.
Face:  Revlon Colorstay Foundation, Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.
Eyes: Urban Decay Snakebite. Buck on the crease, Half Baked on inner corners, Lakme Eyeconic Kajal & Bourjois Intense eyeshadow #10 Matte Black to smudge, Rimmel Scandleyes Mascara
Cheeks: Revlon Photoready Blush in Coral Reef . Reviewed here & The Body Shop Honey Bronzer #1 to contour under cheekbones
Lips: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle. It's less coral than it looks up there. True color in pic below. I will post photos & swatches soon.
Hairband: Miss Jo, New Delhi.
Earrings: Forever 21

Revlon Photoready Cream Blush Coral Reef Review

Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Coral Reef is an intense true coral. When I was done clicking these pics + looking directly at the bright sky, I started seeing coral spots...or bubbles. Very weird.
This cream blush is like no other cream blush I've used before, and I couldn't wait to tell you all about it!

They're ( here) there! The much-awaited Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. They're fun, colorful, fruity, juicy, and inspired by delicious treats! Seriously, you look at them & you'll want to take a bite (not that I've ever done that!)

Revlon Hollywood Lighted Make-up Mirror ~ LOVE!

This is the very very interesting product I mentioned here. The Revlon Hollywood Lighted Make-up Mirror! This is the stuff!
We have only 2 mirrors in this rented house - one in the bathroom over the sink, and one in the bedroom. So, I really really needed a mirror in the other bedroom to do my make-up. I wanted something small, and something that I can carry back to India when the time comes. And this one is perfect, coz it can be folded flat, and weighs 950g. Plus, I didn't have to play handyman, and make holes on the wall.

The Worst Beauty Products

Hope you're all doing well. Today, I'll be showing you some of The Worst Beauty Products I've ever used.

*Please note: I'd used these products for a considerable amount of time, and I did give them the benefit of the doubt before I made up my mind. Also, they might have not worked for me personally, but it's very possible that they're wonderful products for others. That's one of the reasons why most of the ones mentioned are still flying off the shelves.

  1. Colorbar I-Define Pencil (Midnight Black) ~ Hard & dry. Would work better on paper, not eyes.
  2. Inglot Gel Liner (Shade 75 Purple) - Not creamy enough, and dried up before the gel liners I bought way before it. I was gonna use it this one time, and found a purple rock!
  3. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer ~ Caused big painful cystic pimples. It feels like a dream, but works like a nightmare.
  4. Bourjois Elastic Mascara ~ No volume, lashes looked uneven in length & the formula burned my eyes. By far, the worst mascara I've ever used.
  5. Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Blush (Shade #6 Quickie) ~ Dried up before I'd even used it properly. I was shocked! Really not worth $26 (Rs.1400) You are better off mixing a powder blush with moisturizer.
  6. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion ~ Extremely drying & it neither prevented nor cured pimples. The only thing it cleared up was all the moisture from my skin. On nights when I used it, I was afraid I'd wake up in the morning and see my skin had cracked!
  7. Revlon Colorsilk Luminista Hair Color (Medium Blonde 175) ~ Burned my scalp like a chilly paste during developing time. Had the color not turned out brassy, the unexpected sting would have been so worth it.
  8.  L'Oreal Re-Nutrition Shampoo + Conditioner ~ Re-Name, Re-Grease, Re-Dull.

I told you mine. Please tell me yours!

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick Rosy Nude ~ 'My Lips But Better'?

I mumble "Mmm-hmm, my lips but better" as I applied this lipstick. I was in my element.
Mr.CZ:  "Why do you keep saying those words??? 'My lips but better' "
Me:  "Because they're lipsticks that are almost the same color as my natural lips."
Silence. Some things are to be understood only by us ladies. We hunt for a lipstick that is exactly like our bare lips & a blush that is exactly like our natural...err, flush?
If you're looking for another Nude lippie, then Revlon Rosy Nude 065 Colorburst Lipstick might suit your preference. I personally adore it at the moment. Revlon Colorburst lipsticks need no introduction, as they've been there for a while (they even have babies now). I've always like their finish, color selection, pigmentation, packaging, and the fact that they're fragrance-free.
Rosy Nude is a just that- Rosy Nude. A very wearable shade, which can be played up or down

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Sweet Tart Review & Swatches

Certain types of men really are.... pigs. They ruin delectable things by naming their objects of lust after them. We have heard Joey's "Grandma's chicken salad" & Ross's "Sweet Potato Pie" in FRIENDS, haven't we? Let's not even talk about hip hop songs.
Tart, for instance, is a cute little word for a small pie, but they had to go and call easy women (or, knockouts they can't have) that. Now I can't name a puppy 'Tart' anymore, can I? (Come here, Tart....Fetch, Tart...Have you been bad, Tart?) See? Ruined.
Revlon named one of their Colorburst Lip Butters, 'Sweet Tart'. Even they couldn't just name it 'Tart', they had to sugarcoat it. I'm guessing.
About Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%. Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth. Sheer to medium colour with buttery shine. Available in 20 shades.
Packaging: Similar to Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks, except the caps are colored transparent plastic, and longer. Cute & fun.
Love: The color- it's a pretty bubblegum pink, which really suits my skin tone. The Texture- not  so buttery, which makes it cling to lips better. It's fragrance-free & tasteless, it cures chapped lips. Finish is glossy & not so sheer- which I prefer, coz otherwise all colors will look the same with tinted lip balms. Lastly, it is like a lipstick...it is better than some lipsticks.
Don't love: The juicy color & shine doesn't last for more than 15-20 mins, although it doesn't leave my lips completely dry & colorless. The balmy feel lasts.

Katy Perry Perfume Purr & An Awesome Love Package

I told you I ordered Katy Perry Purr with my UD naked 2 Palette from Amazon, but it got stick in US, because Aramex doesn't ship perfumes, right? If you missed that post, it's here.
Aramex asked if they should "discard" it (yeah, right!) or send it within the US. I didn't know what to do! Then I thought of May, my Twitter friend who sent me all those face masks last year (post here). I asked her if I could get it mailed to her & if she could then mail it to me, and she very kindly agreed. Of course we were worried that USPS will also cause trouble with perfumes, but it got through (just don't write it's perfume!) and I received it a couple days back. Woohoo!
About Katy Perry Purr: Purr by Katy Perry eau de parfum begins with the aroma of peach nectar and forbidden apple, evolves with a distinct floral bouquet of jasmine blossom, Bulgarian rose and vanilla orchid, and slowly reveals accents of creamy sandalwood and musk. Like the singer herself, Purr is playful yet sophisticated. Katy Perry transcends barriers with her music—so does her new fragrance. Price: About $29.00 for 50ml (amazon.com), but I paid some more for Aramex + US to India.
Though I'm not a fan of cats, this kitty IS cute. I just think the cat head/cap is not of good quality. Umm, it's more plasticky than glass-like), and the eyes aren't good, shiny crystals (very cheap-looking). However, it smells fantastic! I think it' the first time I'm more impressed with the smell rather than the bottle. I guess it smells like peach & apple....and jasmine. Yeah, I definitely smell those. There's green bamboo in it too, though I have never smelled a green bamboo. It's more of a sweet scent, and it's a tad stronger than my other floral favorite- Marc Jacobs Daisy. BUT the rest of the bottle is all cute, especially the heart collar with Purr embossed on it. For 1450 rupees ($29), I think it's worth it.
