The Worst Beauty Products

Hope you're all doing well. Today, I'll be showing you some of The Worst Beauty Products I've ever used.

*Please note: I'd used these products for a considerable amount of time, and I did give them the benefit of the doubt before I made up my mind. Also, they might have not worked for me personally, but it's very possible that they're wonderful products for others. That's one of the reasons why most of the ones mentioned are still flying off the shelves.

  1. Colorbar I-Define Pencil (Midnight Black) ~ Hard & dry. Would work better on paper, not eyes.
  2. Inglot Gel Liner (Shade 75 Purple) - Not creamy enough, and dried up before the gel liners I bought way before it. I was gonna use it this one time, and found a purple rock!
  3. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer ~ Caused big painful cystic pimples. It feels like a dream, but works like a nightmare.
  4. Bourjois Elastic Mascara ~ No volume, lashes looked uneven in length & the formula burned my eyes. By far, the worst mascara I've ever used.
  5. Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Blush (Shade #6 Quickie) ~ Dried up before I'd even used it properly. I was shocked! Really not worth $26 (Rs.1400) You are better off mixing a powder blush with moisturizer.
  6. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion ~ Extremely drying & it neither prevented nor cured pimples. The only thing it cleared up was all the moisture from my skin. On nights when I used it, I was afraid I'd wake up in the morning and see my skin had cracked!
  7. Revlon Colorsilk Luminista Hair Color (Medium Blonde 175) ~ Burned my scalp like a chilly paste during developing time. Had the color not turned out brassy, the unexpected sting would have been so worth it.
  8.  L'Oreal Re-Nutrition Shampoo + Conditioner ~ Re-Name, Re-Grease, Re-Dull.

I told you mine. Please tell me yours!

  1. Ah!
The worst I've ever used is Lakme Perfect Radiance Foundation & Compact.
    Also Maybelline Diamond glow eyeshadows.
It's heartbreaking when you expect a lot from your fav brand but fall flat on your face instead :-l

    Nice Post CZ <3

    1. Thanks Aprilia. I'm not liking the Lakme Perfect Radiance Compact either, and I've forgotten what I thought about the Maybelline Diamond Glow e/s :)

  2. Maybelline gel eyeliner. You know, the one that comes in a tiny pot with a brush? I was told its waterproof, smudge proof and what not. Turns out it makes my eyes burn like crazy. I still continued to wear it because I thought it might be a one time thing. But no! it just burns all the time. Now its just sitting there and I'm waiting to give it away to my worst enemy :P

    1. do you like colossal kajal? I seem to have the same burning eyes reaction to the kaajal - but luurv the gel eyeliner :) Maybe we should swap - lol!

    2. I LOVE the Colossal Kajal. But I am loving Lakme's Eyeconic one far more. You should try that one and see how it works for you. Plus it lasts for 10 hours! Added bonus!

  7. Learned the hard way that some companies stock different quality products in different countries/places. Got some real Revlon eyeshadow and blush in Indonesia when I was there on a visit - was excited because they were so cheap and from a reputable place. Turns out their quality was cheap too :(

    1. Oh yeah, forgot to mention - first I thought it was fake, but my sister then told me there is a Revlon company based in Indo, and I finally realised. They must cater to the lower end of the brand.

    2. That's weird! I hate it when the quality is different in some countries. I guess the manufacturing co there is new or something :D

  10. Oh my! Some of the blogs I read have really good reviews for some of these products! I guess some products suit certain skin types better than others. I'm specially surprised at number 2, 3 and 6! I've been eyeing number 2 myself for sometime and good I've been putting it off!!!

  15. worst? wow have to think hard because most of these I really like,
    1. Chambor eye pencils - love the colors but they burn my eyes like crazy. Have stopped using them on the water line. They also smell super weird after a few uses.
    2. Maybelline colossal kajal - gives me raccoon eyes and burns a bit!!! I prefer good ol fashioned "herbal" kaajals like biotique or himalaya anyday! But I luuurv their gel eyeliner - does not bother me as much as it bothers 'Lost and Found'!
    3. Metallic eye shadows - they just look really bad on me after a few hours, especially on photographs!!!!
    4. Revlon powder compacts - maybe I did not pick out the right shade - but it always made me look ashen and pale. Their loose mineral powder however, really suits me.
    5. Coastal scents eyeshadows: I seriously do not know why people rave about CS - their shadows are chalky and downright awful!
    6. Lush organic eye make up: Is fun for exactly 5 mins - and then looks plain hideous!!

    1. Typo in my previous comment - I wanted to say "most of these I used to really like"...and then disliked after being utterly disappointed...

    2. Wow that's an exhaustive list! Thanks for sharing! I've only tried the colossal kajal & found it alright. I'm glad I have not purchased any CS e/s then

  16. Hey CZ, I'm new to ur blog n must say I really loved going through the whole of it (u celebrated the 3rd anniv of ur blog n I just 'discovered' it ☹).
There are loads of products that I have disappointed me but the one that tops the list is Lancome Vissionnaire!!! Over-priced, over-hyped, non-performance product (my personal views-might work for others). Feel so sad that I wasted thousands of rs on a product that gave me HUGE cystic acne all over my face :(

    1. Hey hey, thank you so much! Better late then never, right? :)
Gosh that sure sounds like a total waste of money! It's one of the reasons I stay away from high end brands, esp skin care products.

  17. 1. Loreal Collosal Mascara- it flakes, by midday I find tiny black specks on my cheeks.
    2. Garnier Ultra Lift night cream (red pot)- Th texture is grainy and smells like chemicals.
    3. That same loreal shampoo- Doesn't clean my hair. Hello Greasy roots.
    4. Nivea Young skincare range- Smells good but the cleanser doesn't clean and the moisturiser doesn't moisturise. Cheap quality.
    5. Lastly, Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick- This one goes off way early. Earlier than cheaper brand lipsticks. Starts to smell, the texture turns grainy and the oils start to separate.

  18. Hello from your newbie reader!! Love your blog and will never stop reading it :)!! Here's my wall of shame -
    1. Maybelline Colossal Kajal - Gave me the most painful eye infection EVER. Even my opthalmologist confirmed that it's a dangerous product to use as he got several patients with sensitive eyes who got infections from the same product. All media blitz and shitty shitttty product. *snarls*
    2. Lakme Absolute Lip Palette - Yep the same one that is being promoted by Kareena for the Absolute range. ALL the shades are the exact same as discontinued or existing Lakme Enrich shades...I've compared them to my Maasi's HUGE Enrich collection. Shame on you Lakme.
    3. Maybelline Diamond Glow eyeshadow quads - Maybelline strikes again! Powdery, chalky eyeshadows packaged up all pretty.
    4. The Body Shop Tea Tree Mask - Have tried most of the products from the Tea Tree range and they've ALL been epic fails.
    5. Loreal Nutri shine Lipsticks - Crap pigmentation and chunks and chunks of glitter which went all over my teeth and face.

There I feel much better :)!!

    1. Hi Tara, thank u for reading! :)
Too bad the colossal kajal gave you such an infection! I personally found it alright.
Glad I never bought the lip palette. Actually Diamond Glow es look better if layered on top of other colors. But I didn't buy mine from India, so quality might differ.
Mask I found okay actually, but would repurchase
Loreal nutri shine I have not tried...and I'm glad :)

  19. I've heard the photo finish primer has broken out so many people! I'm so sorry to hear that it happened to you too! The Bourjois mascara you reviewed I've tried was absolutely junk for me too, liquidy, thin, useless and the brush does nothing!!

    1. Yeah? I guess it's all the pore-clogging silicone in it. I know right that mascara was a big disappointment! =\

Recently I did this Brand Review about products from Loreal which I like and loathe-

  21. Re: the gel eyeliner, all is not lost You need Inglot's Duraline to revive it. Just take a tiny trace of Duraline on your brush, before dipping it into the pot of gel. The liner will last all day. About the pencil I-define and I-glide liners, both of them will dry up if the cap is not kept on when not in use. If the product is dry, try sharpening a few mm off the pencil. The product may yet be usable.

I ♥ finding little notes in my Vanity Case, so do drop one. I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3

Thank you for reading! :)
