Bourjois Fast & Perfect Mascara With Rotating Brush Review

I remember seeing a rotating hairbrush in one of those tv commercials (Telebrands?). It roll and rolls and makes hair look super sleek. I used to get so tempted to buy it before I got my hair permanently straightened. This mascara reminds me of that hairbrush, which I hear isn't great.

Getting back to topic, it's time to tell you what I think about Bourjois Volume Fast & Perfect Mascara with the much-talked-about rotating brush, which rotates 360° and claims to coat lashes from root to tip with no overloading & give false lash volume effect in 30 seconds.

See how the length of the wand handle is slightly longer than mascara tube? The packaging is quite solid (read: heavier than other mascaras)

At Bourjois Event, New Launches & Haul

I told you about the Bourjois event the other day, and I did make it. It was a quick one, but I came home with new Bourjois products I have been wanting to try, so I was pretty psyched when I left.
I met Zahra, Bourjois' makeup artist, but the meeting lasted only for a few minutes because she wasn't feeling well and was jet-lagged. Hence, no photo of her.

Must-have Bourjois products according to her: Mascara, Eyeliners & Blush.

Enjoy the photos!

Outfit: Sorry, couldn't click properly. It was awkward with people staring and all. I just wore a casual black & off-white bandage dress and a black quarter-sleeve silk blazer. The blazer has a bow clasp there, but it keeps unclasping on its own. Must-fix-that. Black Vincci shoes, black little Accessorize bag.

Bourjois Bio Detox Powder + Fast & Perfect Rotating Mascara

There's more to come from my all-time favorite brand, Bourjois. First is an addition to the Bio-Detox family, that already consists of a foundation & concealer, Bio-detox Organic Perfecting Powder. I've tested some samples of Bio Detox Foundation, but I didn't like it enough to buy it yet (I prefer to test foundations in summer), and plus, I want to check out the Healthy Mix Serum/Gel Foundation first and then decide which one to buy. I hope people who lol when I say I'm a sensible shopper are reading this.
What it is:
This powder is formulated with 100% natural ingredients. It mattifies the complexion, imperfections are erased, and pores are refined.
Its formula is enriched with plant chlorophyll oxygenating and anti-pollution and purifies the skin contains flaxseed powder to absorb shine without clogging pores
Its ultra fine texture, micronized, guarantees a perfect and natural results with no thickness.
The panoramic mirror, rotate 360 degrees, provides optimal application
- Formula is non-comedogenic, non-occlusive, non-drying
- Contains purifying Moringa Seeds
- Dermatologically tested
Available in 6 shades ~ 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 57

Say whaaat??! Rotating Mascara?! That's right, Bourjois Fast & Perfect Mascara is a self- rotating mascara that claims to give false lash effect in 30 seconds.  Its high volume resistance formula respects sensitive eyes, contains natural waxes, a complex derivative of jojoba oil and vitamin E.

Remember I mentioned my favorite way of applying mascara here ? Well, if I get my hands on this mascara, maybe I wouldn't have to work so hard on my lashes anymore! :)

You don't have to say anything anymore, Bourjois. I'm already sold. Both times. Bourjois India better get these here fast!

Favorite Makeup Tips

Here are 5 of my favorite makeup tips, old and new, which I picked up from various sources- magazines, makeup artists & my own experience:
  • If you don't want length on your bottom lashes, apply gel liner on them instead of mascara.
  • Apply some loose powder with a fan brush or a puff on your under eye area when using dark eyeshadows or shimmery eyeshadows, so your base won't be ruined if there's fallout. You can just dust it all off with a powder brush when you're done.
  • Tearing up while applying mascara or liner but don't want the tears to roll down and spoil your makeup? Just press a Q-tip (ear bud) right on your tear ducts. The tears will be absorbed immediately. Do this when you use eye drops too.
  • My new favorite way of applying mascara to extend my short lashes & curl them at the same time: Place the brush at the roots of your lashes, and start rolling the wand (inwards towards cheek), keep rolling till it reaches the tips of your lashes. Repeat until you have evenly coated all your lashes.
  • What's your natural blush shade? Squeeze your fingertip (a little above the line), the increase in blood flow will make the tips look pinker. That's the color that will look most natural on your cheeks.
I will keep posting makeup & beauty tips every now and then, so they can go in the 'Beauty Tips' tab up there. Hope you'll enjoy reading, and find them useful.

Personal Shopping: Inexpensive Makeup Products For Beginners

FAQ ~ "I am very new to make-up. Can you suggest some inexpensive products that I can use everyday? I just want the basic stuff, like for eyes, cheeks & lips, since I don't wear foundation and all that. I'd really appreciate it if you can tell me how much they cost too."

I am going to recommend only the ones that I myself have used/still using, and like. So here are my favorite affordable no-fuss products that are not only great for everyday use, but portable too:

  1. Bourjois Smoky Eyes Trio in Nude Ingenue (Rs.625) ~ This is a great palette of 3 natural shades with subtle shimmer. Apply the beige shade on your brow bone, center of your lids, & inner corners. Then apply the medium brown shade on your crease & lower lash line. Lastly, use the dark brown on the outer V or corners of your your lids. If that sounds too complicated, just apply medium brown all over lids and beige to highlight the inner corners and brow bone. You can also use the dark brown as a liner. Swatches HERE
  2. Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in Cocobar (Rs.325) ~ This is one of my favorite brown eye pencils. I prefer to apply a brown eyeliner for a natural look, coz black can look harsh on my light brown eyes. But if you prefer to use black then pick Black Out instead of Cocobar. Apply a thin line on your upper lash line. Optional: Smudge a little on you lower lash line with a sponge tip applicator (SKIP if you have dark undereyes). Swatch HERE
  3. Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara Black (Rs.275) ~ You can pile it on for lots of volume, or you can apply just one coat for defined yet natural-looking lashes. Apply on your lower lashes too to open your eyes more.
  4. Colorbar Blush in Just Earth (Rs.250) ~ A bit of brown, a bit of peach, to go with the neutral eyes. Lightly sweep some on the apples of your cheeks. Just make sure your face is matte and non-oily so the blush doesn't look blotchy. Swatch & Review HERE
  5. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in 'Warm me Up' (Rs.299) ~ I can't live without this lipstick! It is a pinkish-brownish nude shade (not so pink like in the pic there), that's great for everyday and would suit just about anybody. Swatch HERE
There. You are good to go! Pretty but not made-up. In case you want to look smokin'  just smudge the dark brown eyeshadow on your upper lash line over the brown liner & on the outer half of your lower lash line, and apply 3-4 coats of mascara.

Total cost of products ~ Rs.1774

Hope you like my picks! I just love being a personal shopper ;). I'll go CHEAPER in my next post like this.

Bourjois India New Launches

My first haul in the New Year ~ Bourjois! It just had to be. I got the much-awaited Bourjois Volumizer Mascara today. It is priced reasonably at Rs.550. I can't wait for tomorrow when I can try it out! Will review it in a few days.

The New Little Round Pot Eyeshadows  have also been launched.

These are paraben & fragrance free & contains upto 80% of mineral pigments. They didn't have all the shades in Lifestyle. I wanted the shimmery purple one (2nd in 3rd row) but they didn't have it. When I swatched them, they felt very soft and blendable and not hard like the old single eyeshadows. The shimmery ones however are not so pigmented and the glitter is kinda 'loose' and  doesn't cling to the skin.

The other thing I bought is Bourjois So Laque nail polish in Tangerine Fatal, which I really really wanted ...

Tangerine Fatal (Rs.350)

Sorry, I'm not able to click photos right now. I'll surely do that later this week.
Bye for now :)

LOTD With THE Eyeliner Of The Season + A Maid Complaint

Do you also think I look paler? The cold is sucking the color out of me. I should have applied a bit of bronzer there, but I guess I was jaded after slogging all day since my new (occasional) maid didn't show up... two days in a row! That too in her first week we hired her. She works so lazily! She yawns (without covering her mouth) and says "What time is it now?" everyday. That's Ayah lingo for "I want to go now & I don't want to wash the sponges" It's not like I sat idle like a Nazi princess while she worked. I did it along with her.
Yes, I do want to fire her come Monday morning, but I think I should let her complete one month. What do you think?
Anyways, enough about her =D.  THE eyeliner I'm talking about is Colorbar's I-Glide Pencil in Jaded. It's a glossy jade green shade that's perfect for Christmas, especially if you don't wear colorful eyeshadows but still want to add color to your eyes. It's affordable (Rs.325) & glides like a dream.

It's one green eyeliner which would look good on all skin tones, and if you have green eyes... OMG you are gonna have to wear one of those necklaces/bracelets (black tourmaline?) or a dot of kajal behind your earlobe to ward off evil/envy eyes.

Best & Worst Drugstore Mascaras

First of all, I need you to know what I look for in a mascara, because not everyone expects the same. I have very thin barely-there lashes, so the first thing I look for is VOLUME- the false lash-kind of volume, a lil' bit of LENGTH, no clumps & I prefer waterproof versions, which some mascaras don't come in.
These are the Best & Worst mascaras I have used. I put them according to preference & majorly disappointing :

Wearable Runway Eyeliner Tutorial

I really liked this runway eyeliner trend featured in Vogue, so I thought I'd try it out and maybe add my own twist to it. Here's my take on it with a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to do it...

Diwali Eye Makeup Tutorials For Everyone

The most celebrated festival in India, Diwali also known as the 'Festival Of Lights' , is 2 days away. I guess all you fellow Indians must be very excited. Shopping and planning your Rangoli designs :)

Thought about what type of  makeup you'll be flaunting that day?

My advice: Lots of gold-toned shimmer! Eyeshadows that reflect light. If you don't like bright colors, then pick shimmery neutrals instead for a bit of glamour. For highlight colors, go with gold rather than silver, though silver will look good too.

Here are tutorials for a neutral shimmery look & bright colorful look....

For those who don't like to wear bright colors, I did a neutral shimmery look using half & half technique, which is ideal if you want to lift up your eyes.

Neutral Shimmery look ~ Apply a shimmery pale peach like MAC Honey Lust eyeshadow on inner half of lid, apply shimmery medium brown on outer half of lid. Blend the middle line. Blend any harsh lines with a fluffy brush. Line eyes with gel liner, smudge line with a smudge brush, curl lashes and apply mascara base then black mascara (Maybelline Double Stretch Mascara) on top & bottom lashes. Last apply a creamy gold highlight eyeshadow on brow bone & inner corners. DONE!
*You can can turn this into a bold/bright look by using bright colors like purple, teal etc instead of the medium brown I used. Or gold instead of the Honey Lust shade.

Finish look with a peach blush (and bronzer if needed) and nude/rose/peach lippy.

The next look is if you want to go bright! I'm  using green & gold....

Green & Gold Look ~ Apply light green on lids, blend, apply another green with shimmer only on the center of your lids, then apply a gold shadow on top of that green. Next, apply a darker green matte eyeshadow on the outer corners and a little into the crease. Apply the same cream gold highlight color on brow bone and inner corners, and pat more gold eyeshadow on the center of your lid. Blend lightly. Apply an eyeliner winging  it at the corners and use a pencil liner to tightline and also apply some on your lower lash line. Curl your lashes and apply a volumizing mascara on top & bottom lashes.
**You can use any color other than green, depending on what color clothing you're wearing.

Finish look with a rosy pink blush and pink or raspberry lippie.

Hope you found these tutorials helpful!

❀ Wishing you all a very Happy Diwali in advance. May God bless you abundantly & grant all the good things that you wish for  ✿

P.S: I wrote this post in a rush, so please excuse any errors ;p.
