  10. Cynthia, I realise that this a fashion blog and not one on personal safety, but since you mention pepper spray, please allow me put in a word of caution to you(r) readers:

Do NOT let pepper spray give you false sense of security. Carrying it visibly may deter some would-be attackers, buy it does not prevent attacks and, in fact it may incapacitate the victim herself. It is certainly better than having nothing, but it is NOT a very effective deterrent.

I learnt it the hard way, on the one occasion when I had to use it for self defense -- that too, in Bangalore, India! Because it takes about 10 s to be absorbed in sufficient strength to induce pain, and nearly a minute before it causes maximum discomfort, the attacker, who had come up from behind, had enough time to deflect the hand holding the canister, and I ended up some of the "pepper" (capsaicin) droplets in my eye instead! The slight breeze did not help either, as it increased the dispersion of the pepper spray, and decreased effectiveness. I finally saved myself by beating off my assailant somehow, screaming for help and hopping into the 1st autorickshaw that stopped!

There was no permanent damage done, mercifully. Since then, I find that being very wary of where I walk, looking around every 10-20 steps to make sure I am not being followed, avoiding parked motorbikes (I always avoided parked cars, buses etc.) and joining self-defense classes is a better deterrent. Good luck to all your readers and I sincerely hope they never have to deal with a problem like this.

    1. Thanks for sharing your story. Omg, I'm so proud of you! You were very brave and I feel so thankful that u got away fast & that there was no permanent damage. My best wishes to you <3

You're right, we should avoid parked vehicles by all means.

If you don't mind, I'm gonna share this story in a post.

  11. Oh yes, my travel bag :-).

Let's see... it contains la lippy du jour, le blush du jour (coordinated, of course), le compact, the hand cream, the eye palette (again color coordinated), a sample sized amount of eye-base (currently, MAC's soft ochre), a kabuki brush, a lip brush, eye brushes, a tube of SPF 50 sunblock, a nail file and a comb. And all that is just in my hand bag. The rest of toiletries go in the overnight case, and include the usual -- bath cremes, lotions, wipes, removers, contact lens solution... sigh, it takes a lot to keep a girl looking *this pretty*. But well worth it, no? ;-).

I ♥ finding little notes in my Vanity Case, so do drop one. I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3

Thank you for reading! :)
