Hair Makeover At Lakmé Salon ~ Hair Serenity Treatment

This couldn't have come at a better time. My hair was back to it's natural self, and was becoming very frizzy! I was thinking about going for rebonding again, but then something new & natural came along ~ Hair Serenity Service by Lakmé Salon. I was super excited to try it out, because it doesn't have harmful ingredients & chemicals.

Lakmé Salon's Hair Serenity is a hair relaxing treatment without Formaldehyde. It makes hair look smooth & blow-dried, but not poker straight. You might want to read about here
Is it for you? Let me take you through it all, and you can decide for yourself:
STEP 1: Washing. Just shampoo & conditioner.
STEP 2: Blow dry hair till it's only 70% dry.
STEP 3:  Cysteine Complex Curl Softening Cream was applied only on the hair lengths avoiding the roots. This is the main product.
STEP 4: Wrapping hair in saran wrap.
STEP 5: Leave it on for 25-30 mins. Good thing I carried my guilty pleasure- Fifty Shades Freed, last book of the Fifty Shades Of Grey Trilogy. Haha....yes yes, I look funny, and I have very pointy ears. I used to feel so self-conscious in school when we had to tie our hair up all the time, now I'm displaying them in a very public space - not so self-conscious anymore.
Time for the white masks I showed you here. The guys said the 'fumes' can get to much, but I didn't think they were that bad =)
STEP 6: After 25 mins, they blow dried the hair while the Cysteine Complex was still on my hair.
STEP 7: After blow drying, ironing. They used the Torlen Soft Touch Fuchsia Hair Straightener which I've reviewed here
STEP 8: Wait for hair to cool.
STEP 9: Rinse hair.
STEP 10: They applied this Reviver Hair Repair Treatment, let it sit for a few minutes, and rinsed my hair clean.
STEP 11: They applied this Amazon Series Acai Oil Treatment.
STEP 12: Blow dry hair with a round brush.
Done!
Below is how my air dried hair looks after washing it 2-3 times after the treatment. Remember, it's not supposed to be poker straight....
As you can see, it's a lot smoother & falls better than in the BEFORE pic up there. I clicked these pics right after I washed it, when it's usually a little frizzier. Hours later, or the day after, it looks smoother at the top and is a little wavy at the ends, just the way my hair looked after I blow dry & iron just the top parts. I got exactly what I expected- mane that's neither too straight, nor too curly.
This will last for 3 months. Hair smells funky when wet- while shampooing. It also needs proper care & the right products to make the smoothness last. Results may vary according to hair types.
If you want your hair to look very straight like mine did right after, then you better go for rebonding. But if you don't want to get rid of the waves completely & want your hair to look blow-dried straight, this treatment is worth a try.
Hair Serenity Service available at all Lakmé Salons/Studios. I got mine done at the outlet in M-Block Market, GK-1.

Price of Lakmé Salon/Studio Hair Serenity Service:
  • Short Hair ~ Rs.6499 + Tax.
  • Medium Long hair (like mine) ~ Rs.7499 + Tax.
  • Very Long Hair ~ Rs.8499 + Tax.

I know, my jaw dropped too. Hair straightening services are still very expensive in India. I usually get mine done in Bangkok & Malaysia under Rs.4000. Oh well, while we're here.....

"Beautiful hair comes with a price."

Amen.

What do you think?

  8. I have waist length hair and its slightly wavy because I usually tie it up in a chopstick bun when its partially dry. This treatment looks promising Cynthia, but it is way too expensive... But your hair makes me wanna give it a try nevertheless.

  12. Oh I really like the end result! I went and booked an appointment right after I read your previous post :D But they were a little blank when I said hair serenity services.. they kept calling cystine infusion service. And then I realized even the lakme website calls it that. But all the press releases and beauty blogs called it hair serenity.. now am confused as to if they are the same thing :(

    2. Yes it's the same thing. Hair Serenity is only a fancy name for it :)

It was simply called Cysteine Infusion before

  15. I'm going for this treatment after 2 weeks. Just paid for the services today as there is a newly opened Lakme outlet near my house in Pune and they were handing out 30% discount on services. Was skeptical whole day today, was thinking whether I invested in the right thing or not. After reading your detailed review and seeing everything picture by picture, I'm confident enough and I'm glad I read your post :)

I ♥ finding little notes in my Vanity Case, so do drop one. I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3

Thank you for reading! :)
