Better late than never! I've thought about doing this look since January, when I first saw the promo of Make Up For Ever Très Vichy Collection. I had bought the gingham fabric since then, but couldn't make the bow lashes, coz the fabric with smaller checks didn't match this fabric I'm using right now. Yup, I'm a perfectionist obsessive that way. But thanks to the wonderful Rashmi, who sent me these lashes (post here), I was able to do it without any worries.
Très Vichy was a spring collection and we're almost touching fall, but I'm a bow enthusiast. It would be wrong, almost sacrilegious, if I didn't do it.
Très Vichy ~ Very Gingham. Prepare yourself for a lot of gingham! :)
Face ~ Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Oil Free, Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, Laura Mercier Undercover Pot, MUFE HD Powder.
Cheeks ~ Bourjois Cendre De Rose Brune under cheekbones & MAC Giggly on cheekbones
Lips ~ Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense #32
Brows ~ Urban Decay Brow Box
Eyes ~ Maybelline Hyper Diamonds GY-1 (shimmery white), LA Colors Circus palette, Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner, IN2IT Gel Liner Pencil, Maybelline Hello Kitty Mascara.
How I did the eyes:
Apply black eyeliner and wing it on the outer corners (tutorial here). It should look like this....
- Step 1 ~ Apply a shimmery white color in the center of lids-right over your eyeballs when you look straight.
- Step 2 ~ Apply green eyeshadow on the inner 1/3rd of lids, leaving the center.
- Step 3 ~ Apply pink on outer 1/3rd of lids, leaving center.
- Step 4 ~ To make it look blended, apply the 1st center color again- just let your brush barely touch the color on either side.
- Step 6 ~ Apply a white eyeshadow on browbone and go over the edges of the two colors to blur them out.
Put on the lashes....and Done!
*You can use this method with other colors too- cream, brown & black would look fab for fall.
Made headband from this the night before :)
A little fact: In my hometown, gingham fabrics are used as clothes protector by women everyday. It is measured & stitched, and worn asymmetrically-like a one shoulder dress- pinned on one shoulder and under the opposite arm. Older women feel inappropriate without it in the presence of other people. It shouldn't be confused with an apron though. Most women even have different types for each purpose- for home, for market, for funerals (nearby). Gee, I hope I'm explaining it right lol.
Hope you liked the pics & tutorial. I had so much fun doing it in spite of having the flu & 'beaching' cough.
