April Beauty Resolutions

Some people's resolution is to never let Yuvraj Singh bat in such an important match again.
Some people's resolution is to never vote for Congress again.

Mine is simply April Beauty Resolutions with an Apple on the side.

#1 Apply Bio Oil everyday ~ To prevent stretch marks. The ultimate test begins now, since I'm in my 2nd trimester. I've started using it religiously for the last 2 weeks. I hate the smell of Palmer's Cocoa Butter, so I'll be sticking to Bio Oil.

#2  Apply a Face Mask at least once a week ~ My skin has been acting out a lot these days, because of the weather & water change. Not just my face, but my legs and arms too. Right now, I'm using Vichy Normaderm 3-in-1 Cleanser+Scrub+Mask, and I'm liking it a lot. Makes my face feel really clean, smooth & oil-free. But I'll soon stock up on natural/herbal masks, like Multani Mitti (fuller's earth), Sandalwood, etc.

#3 Use Hair Mask every time ~ When I don't use a hair mask, my hair feels drier, so I've decided to use one every time I wash it. I've been using TRESemmé Anti-Breakage Masque for months now, sometimes mixed with my conditioner to cut down shower time. It works well, makes my hair soft & sleek.

#4  Start Using Hair Curlers ~ Since it's starting to get hot and I'm now in the land of hard water, I've decided to cut down on hot hair appliances to prevent my hair from feeling, again, too dry. I got these hair curlers from Primark - Sleep In Rollers for volume & Large Bendy Rollers for waves.

#5 Use Brand New, Untouched Products ~ Sometimes this happens. Too many new products, too little time. As much as I love makeup looking all new and shiny, I also love to try them out. I put some of them in the pic: Stila In The Garden Eyeshadow Palette, Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer #02, Sleek Life's A Peach Blush, lipsticks are Max Factor Elixir Pink Brandy #825 & Rimmel Moisture Renew As You Want Victoria #360.

#6 Eat An Apple Everyday ~ For me, eating fruits feel like a chore (except for lemons). I like them, but I never make it a point to eat them. Apples, especially, coz I can't just bite down on them (veneers!), they need to be peeled and chopped into fours. I don't like peels - fruits, tomatoes, baby potatoes, peanuts, etc. Since I now have to eat a portion of fruits daily, I chose apples & bananas.

That's all for now. Let's hope I won't break them! =)

  1. Hi Cynthia, does Bio Oil help in lightening surgery marks?

    1. Yes, if used regularly. Some people who use it on the face, say it helps fade acne scars too. From personal experience, it also makes stretch marks look less "wormy" :)

  2. I, too, just started using Vichy Normaderm 3-in-1 cleanser and I am loving it. I totally agree it makes the skin feel clean without over drying and it is de-congesting my skin too.. If you like the cleanser, you would like the night cream of Vichy Normaderm as well. I am using it and first time in life I feel the cream is made just for my skin. ( I have tried YSL, Shiseido too)

  4. Ooh..one of my few favourite scrubs. I generally do love Vichy products simply because none have ever broken me out.
P.S..the Stila palette looks incredibly pretty!

  5. Hi Cynthia,
LOVE your blog! I follow it religiously!
I have a question, I normally use Neutrogena products (currently use the day cream with SPF 30 and the Deep cleansing face wash) I tried using the night cream with sesame oil, but it makes my skin too oily. I reduced the amount i put on, but the problem persisted. Is it wise to use 2 diff products? Eg: the neutrogena day cream but some other night cream?

    1. I do that too sometimes, and it does mess up your skin...I get a pimple every time I don't wash my face. Good luck....once you start a daily routine, it'll become a habit you can't break! :)

  16. I have thought of buying the Bio Oil for quite sometime now, will get one soon. I went to the Vichy counter to look at their stuff, which I've heard is really good for acne prone skin lije mine, but got really overwhelmed and ended up buying the La Roche Posay effaclar Duo instead. I love deep cleansing face mask, and the feeling of it removing all the gunk off my face after a long, hot day ( I am using the clinique anti-blemish deep cleansing face mask) and now I want to try the Vichy Normaderm One.

My resolution this month has been to be healthy, as much as possible, and most importantly to follow a simple skincare routine and really stick to it, for at least 28 days. It can be so easy to be sucked into trying new and fancy products on me, but my skin ends up being worse.

Congratulations and all the very best for your pregnancy, can't wait for baby CZ to arrive.
