MAC Angel Lipstick ~ Look & Review

Apart from Shaggy's insanely popular song, 'Angel' makes me think of a story a college roommate told me about that still makes me LOL to this day. A guy (admirer) had handwritten a love letter to her girlfriend:
"Blah.... blah..... blah........
...... You are my angle."
I think it's actually one of the most misspelled words in the English language.
Sometime this year, I saw In Facebook:
  • Proud mother put up photo of her kid with caption: "My little angle."
  • Status of some girl: "Treat me like an angle, and I'll show you what heaven is like."

Uhm, wrong angle, dudes!
Coming to topic in hand, MAC Angel. One of MAC best selling lipsticks. I'll start with the look I did with it.

Face: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Beige (so happy this isn't the product that was breaking me out last week), Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer, Rimmel Nude Scandaleyes Kohl Pencil (as precise spot concealer over Maybelline concealer), Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Sandstorm.
Eyes: A purple eyeshadow from MUA Poptastic Palette on lids & bottom lash line, Inglot eyeshadow #342 on the crease, Urban Decay Blackout as liner, Urban Decay Virgin under brow bone & tear duct area, Bourjois Effet Smoky Pencil in Intense Black lined & smudged on bottom lash line, Lakmé Eyeconic Kajal to line waterline & tightlineEylure Katy Perry Lashes in 'Cool Kitty' (applied with Bourjois 2-in-1 Tweezers + False Eyelash Applicator), Maybelline Colossal Smoky Eyes Mascara- 1 coat on top lashes, 2 coats on bottom lashes.
Brows: Same Inglot Eyeshadow #342
Cheeks: Lakmé Cheek Chromatic Baked Blush in Day Blushes applied more than required so it'll show in photos (Review & Swatches here). A little bit of The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder under cheekbones. Urban Decay Virgin to highlight on top of cheekbones.
Lips: Only MAC Angel Lipstick. Urban Decay Virgin to highlight cupid's bow.
Bow Earrings: Vincci. Shown here
MAC Angel is another lipstick that , just like MAC Cosmo, lured me with it's name. I decided I wanted an angel in my vanity. But it had always been one of the light pink lipsticks I always end up swatching at the stores - along with Cremecup.
Finish: Frost. I've tried only one MAC lipstick in frost finish before- Bronze Shimmer, which I did not use at all & I don't even know why I got it.
Color: Described as a Soft Pink. It is a warm medium pink with almost undetectable shimmer. It looks like a light salmon pink on my lips.
The Good: I reach for this every time I wear smoky purple eyeshadow & pink blush. It complements the look so much. I think it looks better at night time with the lights on. Though it's a frosty finish, it is still creamy & doesn't feel dry or gritty. Fragrance free, althought I like the vanilla scent in the Lustre MAC lippies.
The Bad: It sits messily on top my lips, something I loathe in a lipstick. I have to blend it with a finger to make it look settled. It looks somewhat grainy & settle into lip lines making my lips look pruned. I think I would have liked it a little more had it been in Lustre or Cremesheen finish.
Best way to apply it: Apply one coat, blot with tissue, apply a second coat, blot again, dab the lipstick on lips lightly, then pat gently with a finger.
I read that this lipstick got really popular after Kim Kardashian mentioned it's one of her favorite lipsticks.
It's not a lipstick I'd repurchase, but I'd still wear it with smoky eyes- especially at night.

Price ~ Rs.990
My Rating ~ ♥♥♥♥♥ 3/5

I could only click a few photos in the morning when I'd just done my makeup & my hair was looking more bouncy (1st photo) before the camera battery died (argh, it always happens to me!), so I had to resume in the evening when it was getting dark. That's why the last photo looks too cold. Lipstick photos were taken in New Delhi in May =D
Btw, it's snowing here in Newcastle. Will post pics one of these days.

I ♥ finding little notes in my Vanity Case, so do drop one. I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3

Thank you for reading! :)
