Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation is 'Product Of The Week'. You'll see why in a bit. I got Nude Light 4, which is a tad lighter than my skin tone, but it settles down after blending & mimics my skin tone. I was confused between Light 4 & Light 3.5 (slightly darker shade), but I was afraid 3.5 would look a little too orange. I have to take another look at it to know for sure though, please don't quote me yet.
Ingredients
Coverage: Medium to heavy. Even a tiny blob of this is enough to cover the whole face. Swatch above if only half a pump.
Finish: I'd say it's between dewy & matte. Definitely needs to be set with powder if you have oily/combination skin. It would probably suit dry skin types as well.
Love: It gives a natural-looking airbrush finish. The medium-heavy coverage is better for my skin. Makes large pores almost invisible. Blends quickly- even with fingers. A small amount goes a long way. Conceals blemishes to an extent. Doesn't break me out. Fragrance-free. Looks really good in photos.
Don't Love: Can look streaky if not blended properly. Face gets a little oily after a couple hours & needs to be powdered again. No SPF.
Now let's test it on the side of my face with the most stubborn blemishes (EVER!) You'll see my real skin tone on my jawline. For those of you who are new to my blog, I battle hyperpigmentation/melasma - a hereditary problem- everyday.....
It evened out my skin tone, covered my pores and made my skin look Isn't it awesome?! I'd say it does live up to the 'Airbrush Finish' claim. Remember these pics are taken very closely, so the "imperfections" look giant. Can you imagine how my 'After' skin looks from afar?
This is officially the best drugstore foundation I've tried till date. LOVE!
Price ~ Rs.575 for 30 ml
My Rating ~ ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.7/5
*Btw, that Dream Matte Mousse Foundation was no good for me. It became very messy under the Delhi sun. A flamboyant male friend was like, "Ohmygod! What happened to your face??!"- under his breath, embarrassed tone, coz we were buying make-up at a store & my face looked like it was powdered with gram flour and wet fingers. I never wore it again! =[
Do an FOTD with it sis:)
ReplyDeleteOk will do :)

Awesome find CZ... i love the fact that you recommend drugstore mkeup along with high end! how is the shade selection?
ReplyDeleteThere are about 4-5 shades, I think

hey CZ...wud u say this is better than bourjois mineral matte? I understand bourjois is not liquid in that sense..but application-wise, coverage-wise and staying power-wise..which is better? I need one for summers
ReplyDeleteI like both, but I like this better, coverage-wise

Hey, my sis has been using this for the last 2 years and she loves it. Could you do a follow up post please? I wanted to get these, but some women with oily skin, as I found on net complained it broke them out after a week or so. I'm confused with the mixed reviews. So, it would be really very helpful
ReplyDeleteOk Nivedita, will tweet u instead :)

You should try some products that will minimise the appearance of hyperpigmentation so you could depend less on concelears. Hope you won't mind me recommending Caudalie's VINOPERFECT SÉRUM ÉCLAT
ReplyDeleteANTI-TACHES. Both me and my mum use this (me for post acne marks which go away so fast since I use this! and my mum for her hyperpigmentation which really faded a lot). I just bought a second bottle of this yesterday and since I'm so happy with results I wanted to share it with everyone! :) It is expensive - 45 euros in France and in most of the Europe but it is worth it in my opinion. This product really is a HG for me because I have fair skin tone and it's hard to find suitable shade of foundation/concelear. Do try it, I really think it would help you a lot. Lots of celebrities use Caudalie products so it's one more positive review :).

I use Revlon Colorstay and I love it...but you make it sound like this is a better foundation at a lesser price..is it better than Colorstay? :) if so...me switching fast!!
ReplyDeleteColorstay is more matte than this, and would probably fare better when it's hot. Coverage-wise this is heavier
Delete♥xx♥
For oily skin which one is better...this or Revlon Colorstay??
ReplyDeleteColorstay is more matte than this. But isn't oily either
Delete♥xx♥
Hey whats your skin type? Is it good for oily skin ?
ReplyDeleteEveryone is talking of Revlon Colorstay in the comments. I love that one too!
Perfect fo oily skin in summers
Oily/combination, more oily in summers
Delete♥xx♥
Thanks for this! I just and bought myself a bottle of this :)
ReplyDeleteGreat! Hope u'll like it too :)
Delete♥xx♥
wow it sounds so amazing..is it better than bourjois healthy mix and mineral matte mousse also?
ReplyDeletehey this seems amazing...can i know what u used to blend it?? fingers or brush???
ReplyDeleteLooks heavenly. do you think this could hold up against oily skin though? I always imagine this type of finish will disappear.
ReplyDeletei am buying this foundation for the seamless finish it gives..WOuld be excellent for photoshoots!
ReplyDeletehi CZ. will this work for normal skin (with a slightly oily-ish T zone). i have been using Mac mineralize satinfinish for years but now m nt too happy with it, particularly in summers. i wanna buy a new one but dont wanna buy sumth as expensive as a Mac one as i dn wear foundation on a daily basis. this seems a great buy, without digging a hole in ur pocket :p
ReplyDeletealso, since u said that this gives a gud amt of coverage, does it look too "made up"? if u kno what i mean... :p
PS: i love ur blog and am totally hooked to it. i chk ur blog like 2-3 times every single day, just to chk for new posts LOL
XOXO
Hi Ayesha, yes it would, coz mine is very oily and it works just fine when set with powder. It doesn't make me look made up at all. If u find it too heavy, you can always mix it with a little bit of moisturizer.
DeleteHehe...happy to hear that! Thanks for reading my blog :)
