Maybelline Clear Glow BB Cream & Clear Glow Compact Powder Review

Have you seen how Maybelline India advertised the Clear Glow BB Cream?
"The answer to WTF"
First time I saw it, I thought it means something else. You know what. Of course, it didn't make any sense.
But they actually mean "Women Take Forever". The answer to women take forever.
I think it's pretty clever.
About Maybelline BB Cream:
They decided to call it  Bright Benefit cream, instead of Blemish Balm. Claims to provide 8 benefits:
  • Instantly brightens : Brightens skin to one tone lighter.
  • Protects with SPF 21/ PA+++ : Has a smooth, light & non-greasy texture.
  • Evens tone : Hides imperfections & corrects uneven skin tone.
  • Hydrates : Moisturises all day(8 hours).
  • Conceals : Perfectly conceals flaws, blemishes & redness.
  • Smoothes : Instantly makes skin softer & smoother.
  • Mattifies : Controls shine all day.
  • Freshens : Resists sweat & sebum for 5 hours.
Available in 3 shades: Nude, Radiance, Natural.
I picked 01 Nude, which is perfect for my skin tone & I think it would even suit skin tones that are 2-3 shades darker than mine too, It blends into nothing. Really, it looks like I have nothing on my face but it does, however, mattify & brighten my complexion. It blends in really really quickly, no brush needed. It does conceal minor imperfections like redness & brightens up the undereye areas, but it's definitely not thick enough to cover very obvious dark spots. It's great if you want that au naturale look. It is the next best thing to a tinted moisturizer. It smells good too- fresh & floral (like some white flower....moringa?), which is better than the medicinal smell of the previous BB cream I got from KL.
I think the only glitch here is the quantity- complained by many. The 18ml tube is really small. I guess they could have made it a tad bigger.

About Maybelline Clear Gow All-In-One Fairness Compact Powder:
Infused with Pro Vitamin C it instantly illuminates skin's appearance, revealing a healthy fair glow. Has SPF 26 PA++, lightweight, and keeps skin shine free.
Available in 5 shades.
This is shade 02 Nude Beige. It comes in a sleek pale pink packaging with a mirror & a soft washable sponge applicator. It is silkier than the one I bought from Malaysia (shown here & below) & the shade, though both have the same shade number, is darker & suits my skin tone better. The powder is lightweight & doesn't cake up my face. It does keep my skin matte, though I haven't worn it in extremely hot & humid weather, yet. I was trying to put a finger on the smell of the powder, then I also remembered it smells like Charmis cream (thanks to first comment below)

Swatches : Nude Beige (left). Swatch on right is of the other powder in same shade for comparison.

Have you caught up with the BB Cream mania?

Disclosure: Only one of the BB Creams was sent to me by brand for consideration. I'd been using the one I bought myself.

  1. I love this BB cream and compact! I got the compact in sand beige, it's my skin tone perfectly. :D Although they don't have darker shades, which is weird and the powder smells like the Charmis cold cream my mum used to use.. Lol! These two kept my skin matte for 9 hours today. O.o

  3. I haven't tried these non-asian BB creams. None of them really seem to do what a BB cream is supposed to do (according to the traditional restrictions) nor do they really seem to come out in my skintone yet.

  5. I wanted to pick up Maybelline BB Cream, but it was unavailable at the store. Hmm...looks like I'll pass, because 3/5 is not the best score.

I ♥ finding little notes in my Vanity Case, so do drop one. I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3

Thank you for reading! :)
