Winter is here, but I still can't get enough of my bronzers. My skin instantly looks healthier after I brush some bronzing powder on my cheeks. In fact, I'll need them more now when it's cold and I'll get paler. I thought it's about time I wrote about The Body Shop Honey Bronze products I bought in October. In the photos, the products don't show much but they don't in real life either. Both the Bronzing Powder and Shimmering Dry Oil products are very subtle. The Bronzing Powder could easily be called a 'Bronzer Faker'

Face: Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer, MUFE HD Foundation #120, Laura Mercier Undercover Pot under eyes, MAC Studio Finish Concealer to conceal blemishes.
Cheeks + Face ~ TBS Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder under cheekbones, temples, chin & Shimmering Dry Oil on the cheekbones. I also applied the oil on the bridge of my nose, over my brows and on the center of my chin.

Swatches: L- Bronzing Powder, R- Shimmering Dry Oil
Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder #02 Fair Matte ~ As you can see in the first pic, I've used this a lot. LOVE it! It is only about 1-1 and 1/2 shades darker than my skin tone, so it is perfect when I want very natural-looking contours around my face. It is my first matte bronzer without any shimmer whatsoever so I'm really digging it, literally. The powder texture is smooth and silky and blends well without leaving any streaks. Will repurchase.

Shimmering Dry Oil ~ I bought the Bronzing Powder first and couldn't stop thinking about this oil when I got home. First impression at the store- It smelled incredible! Kinda coconutty, with a blend of honey & cocoa....I couldn't stop sniffing the back of my hand. Later when I bought it, the smell reminded me of Keo Karpin Hair Oil (LOL) BUT after it dries it still smells really good.
The Good ~ The consistency is thin and runny so it doesn't feel heavy like a regular oil, it makes skin look healthy & satin-like, the bronze shimmers aren't OTT and look very subtle once spread on the skin-almost undetectable, it dries but it'll still have that filmy-feel, great for the body, esp legs & bare back.
The Bad ~ Heavy glass bottle, overpriced. They say "Avoid contact with fabrics" so it must stain clothes (yikes!)

Phew! How long is this post?! I was stuck on it for hours. I thought about splitting up the look and reviews, but it seemed very boring & repetitive in my head.
Oh! It doesn't look so long on the main page! :) Effects of insomnia, I couldn't fall asleep at all last night although I did feel very very sleepy, so only 3 and a half hours of sleep after 7 am. Yawn.
Have you tried these 2 products?

I think it adds a lovely luminous effect to your skin. But I wonder how it'd work on darker people. would it be more of a highlighter than a brozner then?

ReplyDeleteThis has to be most natural bronzed look ever! You're looking so fresh and the using a bronzer that close to your skin tone is a fabulous idea! I'm really tempted to check out the bronzer now :P The oil sounds great too (Esp the smell!) but since I have oily skin, I'd stay away from that one!
