I enjoyed making it so much, because it's so easy. I hope you'll like it too!
What you'll need:
- Knife ~ A flat knife without any curves and such is better (not like the one I used below). I didn't want to use the knives I use to cut onions.
- Lip balm jar ~ You can use any empty lip balm jar. Mine is from a travel set I got from Watsons a couple years back You will find some in New U stores as well- I think Bare Essentials has these things. I want a bigger jar next to fit at least 6 lippies.
- Foil ~ This is where you'll cut the lippies.
- Tissues ~ To wipe off knife and fingers during.
I quickly clicked a pic while I was doing mine last night....
How To:
I think you've understood just by looking at the pics. The only important thing is to measure the length of the lippy, it should be as long as the depth of the jar.
When it's done, keep in the fridge overnight.
Lipsticks used- MAC Lustering, MAC Hug me, ZA Shell Pink, ZA Salmon Rose. I didn't mind chopping off these lipsticks coz they were all the exact size of the depth of the jar. I scooped out every bit of the lippies, that's why everything looks all squishy & messy at the bottom. But the mess is also the yum factor, I think.
This will go in my handbag.. 4 lipsticks in one jar! Wear one shade or mix & match! I haven't worn these lipsticks in months, and now I can't wait to dig in!
Woww it looks great!!!
ReplyDeletelovely
ReplyDeleteDestructively Constructive... I like your sundae!
ReplyDeleteIt's look yummyyy
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea to recicle those lipstick that are in the end and we cannot use it anymore :) really such great idea!!

Great idea! I'll certainly try it!
ReplyDeleteyou are so innovative! Love this. I think this way the lippies will get much more use :) I have them all my MAC ones chopped off like this in a MUFE palette and I love mix and match too :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea...I don't think I'd dare to break up my lipsticks on purpose unless they were almost done! It's a good way though, to use things you haven't touched in a while.
ReplyDeletegreat idea!!! :D
ReplyDeleteyummie!

ReplyDeleteYummmmyyyyyy post Cynthia.....
ReplyDeleteAwesome way of depotting lipsticks!
ReplyDeletewow that looks destructively tempting, I did this exact same DIY experiment 2 weeks back.. but I must say it takes a strong heart to chop up MAC lippies like that!
ReplyDeleteyummy!! lol.. i have few broken lippies, will make a lippie sundae .. hehehe
ReplyDeletethis is such a great idea but i don't think i'm ready to chop off any of my lipsticks yet. :)
ReplyDeletethis is such a good idea! i might do this with my old lippies that i dont use, shame i just gave some to my sister >_<

wonderful idea C! I'm going to do this with my MAC bombshell! :)
ReplyDeletesoo cute! i'm going to make one now :D
ReplyDeletep.s. ants get everywhere! i'll be coming to india in a month and i must say that is one thing i am not looking forward to!
Ooooh never thought about that, great idea! Love the results (:
ReplyDeleteSooo I totally did this as soon as I read it. :) I used my four MAC lipsticks: bombshell, toxic tale, yash and creme cup. the thing is I'm having a hard time having these melt into one. I tried microwaving, but it started sparkling, so I had to stop. Waiting for a hot day so I can melt them before freezing them. cant wait to show you the results :)
ReplyDeleteThis is super cute! I prefer my colors separate so I have de-tubed lipsticks in to a pill case or empty lip palette. But the whole sundae looks sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy and the name lipstick sundae is so apt :)
ReplyDeleteAOYV- Oh, they melt easily here coz it's so hot. You can use a hair dryer too. Can't wait to see it! :)
ReplyDelete♥xx♥
Aarthi- :))
ReplyDeleteKC- I like them separate too, but this is more fun and compact :))
silkenthreads- hehe...ya they are waiting for u ;p
♥xx♥
Adaa- :D Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThakitty- glad u liked :)
Sahar- You're welcome :)
Get Gawjus- Happy u liked it. Ya I saw your palette...it's awesome

bhumika, IBC- lol...they are old, that's why I had a strong heart to chop them :D
ReplyDeleteRashmi- I'll actually use it everyday now :)
♥xx♥
Oooh!~ SO yummy!! >;'D
ReplyDeleteNice!! btw,What lip brush did you use in these pics??
Wow! Like Wow girl, what an idea! I'm sure some company (maybe bourjois) is gonna copy this and come up with 4 in one lip tub.. this is an fantastic idea! I wanna do this myself now.. I'll first try it out with some cheaper lippies :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous- I used a Body Shop Retractable Lip brush
ReplyDeleteTanveer- Thank U! :D. I wouldn't mind if they did & make cuter packaging ;))
♥xx♥
I did the blowdry thing it worked :) Will do a post by tomorrow, hopefully :)
ReplyDeleteSpending way too much time studying, the mints remind me of mitochondria, the red candy RBCs, LOL!.... the lipstick sundae looks yummy though!
ReplyDeleteLOL :D
Delete♥xx♥
Wow... you chopped off your MAC lippies? Brave girl! I love the idea though.... :)
ReplyDeleteI like the suggestion you gave to AOYV....I am going to use a blow dryer next time!! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteThis seems like it'd be a good idea for lipsticks that have gotten too short to be used with a tube, or broken. It looks cute!
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea and very convenient too! I used to mix oldish lipstick bullets with Vaseline to get my all-in-one but that was back in the day when I used Vaseline on my lips. :)
ReplyDeletewow this is such a great idea!!! I might as well create my own lipstick sundae! :) thank you.. now I have something else to do in this boring Sunday morning.. :)
ReplyDeletehttp://karlamichelleangco.blogspot.com/
so delectable!! I cant wait till I hit unusable bottom on a few lipsticks, this looks so cute!!! :) :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks nothing less than a real sundae, and looks absolutely YUMMY! I dont think i have the heart to try this out, but I might just coax my sis into doing this. Great post cynthia :)
ReplyDeleteHaha...yes yes lemme know how it goes if she agrees :D
Delete♥xx♥
very smart idea, piy i recently threw an old tub of lip balm...now need to find a jar to make my own sundae!
ReplyDeleteqn: can you use your fingers to apply the lipstick? I mean, carrying a lip brush in a handbag without messing it up sounds tricky - though I really hate using fingers on make up
btw who takes the photos on your blog? really brings out the colors - do you touch up the photos before posting them?
ReplyDeleteLolz, Cynthia, rather than wearable, this looks more eatable for me! It looks like some delicious ice creams inside a jar so yummy! My mouth waters whenever I see this post :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG amazeball ~~ I am excited to try my own Lipstick Sundae ;) but not sure I will be using MAC lippies cause they cost $40 each over here :/

What a fabulous idea! I am so going to do this. So tired of jamming my fingers deep into my well used lipstick tubes. Now I'm going to scoop out the remains and put it into jars. Thank you!
