MAC Painterly Paint Pot Review & Swatches

What it is:
A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

Mac Painterly Paint Pot

I use this an as eyeshadow primer. Here's what I like and dislike about it:

Likes:
♥   It evens out the color and texture of my lids
♥   Mattifies oily lids
♥   Blends really well, but you need to blend quickly before it dries, otherwise it'll feel uneven.
♥   Makes eyeshadows pop, smudge less and stay longer
♥   A lot of product in the little pot, and you need very little each time, so it'll last.
♥   Cute glass pot. But drop it on a hard surface and it's goodbye Painterly.

Dislikes:
-    It feels rubbery when it dries and not silky smooth. It wrinkles too. Swatch below will explain what I mean.
-    Expensive. I wish it was priced below a 1000 bucks.
-    Judging by the testers at the stores, once these dry up in the pots, they are useless. Make sure you close      the lid real tight every time.

In the photo above: 2 swipes of eyeshadow on top of Painterly Paint Pot, whereas 3-4 swipes of eyeshadow on the part without Paintpot. Eyeshadow used: MAC Espresso Eyeshadow

After rubbing both with a finger

As you have seen, it really is a good eyeshadow base. I think I might buy more of these in the future.

In case you're wondering, like I did, if it can be used as a concealer, NOPE ;)

Price ~ Rs.1100

  1. I have the inglot eye base...its really good too, but it has a thinner consistency and tends to crease slightly more than this..also it doesnt hold up well in the summer...but then i paid Rs 400 for it, and its brilliant for that amount..
I have rubenseque..i really like that one!

  14. sikenthreads- I'm NC 25. I think it'll look fine on yr skin tone too, coz it's quite sheer when blended. Those with darker skin tones also like this one. But test it at the store first to be safe

  16. Thats why its called PAINTERLY POT cause of the texture it gives like a paint on canvas. The texture of canvas you see, canvas wrinkles. :P

  22. It certainly does make a difference as a shadow base! I hate it when a product dries up pre-maturely. It would be such a waste of money, especially if it's expensive.

I ♥ finding little notes in my Vanity Case, so do drop one. I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3

Thank you for reading! :)
