Dark underarms can be a really embarrassing problem for some people. Imagine not being able to raise your arms at a Enrique Iglesias concert coz you don't want people to think you don't bathe properly! Okay, I guess you won't be baring that neck of the woods in the first place, but you get my point.
Mine were getting dark, because I was shaving every second day (plus my skin is generally prone to darkening.) They weren't SO dark, but dark enough to freak me out! So, I started using the Nivea Extra Whitening Cell Repair Anti-perspirant Roll-on, and... and... my underarms are almost their natural color now. Love it!

It contains 2x Licorice extracts, Witch Hazel & Avocado for Extra Fair & Smooth skin. It doesn't sting or anything like that and smells very fresh and pleasant. I won't say anything about whether or not it prevents sweating, because that's not what I want out of it. I wouldn't be sure anyways since it's not hot in Delhi anymore.
I have used the whitening one too before this, but it wasn't so effective (below)
Some tips to prevent dark underarms:
- Shave less frequently. Once a week is perfectly fine, especially if you won't be wearing sleeveless.
- Whitening roll-ons. But don't use them right after shaving/waxing. Start using the day after.
- Avoid using anti-perspirant sprays with alcohol, especially right after shaving & waxing.
- Opt for waxing if your underarms are really really dark. Waxing will remove dead skin and exfoliate the pigmentation + less ingrown hair.
- Use a gentle body scrub, like the St.Ives Whitening Apricot Scrub on your underarms 1-3 times a week.
- Check your razor. Maybe you're having a reaction to the blade. Sanitize it before use in something like Dettol, and make sure you keep the razor dry when you're not using it.
- Use a shaving foam so you don't chafe your delicate underarm skin, hence increase the probability of darkening. My HG (holy grail) shaving foam is Gillette Satin Care
My point is, if you have dark underarm woes, you should definitely try whitening roll-ons! =D

Yup I definitely prefer waxing and epilating over shaving but sometimes it's not always an option. I hate dark underarms! O_O
ReplyDeleteNice discovery Cynthia, its a good product I suppose. Also Avon has a similar product which my friend uses..heard good things about it too. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteshaving underarms is a complete no no! The hair that comes out after shaving is so hard that it will hurt. Waxing is best for underarms and bikini area ^_^
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for the tip! Sometimes I notice that problem on me myself. Next time I need deodorant, I'll try to find those.
