Here are some thoughts and reviews on a few nominated products for the totalbeauty.com beauty awards
~ Blush ~
Nars Blush ~ Very pigmented blush, long lasting and available in so many pretty colors. Every girl should try at least one Nars blush in her lifetime.
~ Liner ~
Mac Fluidline ~ I think every beauty junkie has this and I haven't come across one who doesn't like it. Goes on very smooth, stays put, but not waterproof.
Mac eye pencil ~ Love this! I used 'Coffee' shade till the very last bit. It's a coffee brown shade which is perfect if you want a more natural look and if black looks too harsh on you. Would repurchase again and again. So 'holy grail' liner for sure.
~ Eyeshadows ~
Revlon Colorstay 12 hr eyeshadow quad ~ I love these! They are very smooth and buttery. Blends so easily. The one in the picture is '#10 Berry Bloom' and it is supposedly the best selling shade in India because air hostesses in India buy it in bulk. No no that's not the reason I bought it for myself. I got it because they were all colors I did not have at the time (at the time!) And also because I thought the second color is like Mac Satin Taupe. Not!
Mac Eyeshadows ~ This is Satin Taupe. Totally different. From color to texture. Mac eyeshadows do live up to the hype. If only they weren't so pricey *sigh*
~ Highlighter/Multi-tasker ~
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick ~ This is a lovely product. I picked 'Rose' because I wanted to use the bronzy shades under the cheekbone, the pinks on the apples and the white for the top of my cheekbones. This technique gives a dimensional look to cheeks. Most of the time I just like to layer it on top of another blush to add shimmer. The packaging can't get any better than this.
Nars Multiple ~ One of my star products. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
~ Lipgloss ~
Mac Lustreglass ~ Uhmm...not a fan. I find them too sticky for my taste. Also, the brush is not my ideal gloss brush.
Mac Tinted Lipglass ~ I like these better than Lustreglass.
Loreal color juice ~ I used these back in 2004-5. I'd describe them as forgettable. Why else would I have thought that they were discontinued?
~ Lipstick ~
Mac Lipsticks ~ Who doesn't love Mac lipsticks, eh?
All-time Favorites: Sweetie, See Sheer.
Maybelline Moisture Extreme ~ Affordable, extremely moisturizing, available in more than 50 shades, has SPF 15, attractive red packaging....what more could you ask for?!
~ Mascara ~
Loreal Voluminous ~ I didn't like this mascara at all back in 2006. I found it too clumpy and the one I got wasn't waterproof so it was a deal breaker. But so many people rave and rave about this that I started questioning myself. Maybe I was too quick to judge, maybe I expected too much, maybe....
It is very similar to the Loreal Extra Volume Collagene mascara, which I do not like very much as well. So now I've made peace with myself. We don't like it.
~ Powder ~
Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural ~ Okay I have a love hate relationship with this one. It gives a very natural smooth finish but after two hours, I look shiny as if I have not applied any powder at all. Definitely not for oily skin types, especially during the Delhi summers.
~ Tools ~
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler ~ I've used this eyelash curler for about 6 years now and it is still as good as new. I can't live without it. Curls lashes perfectly, has never pulled out any lash and the silver metal has not discolored (even though I've washed it with soap and water many many times). Deserves to be nominated, everywhere.
Tweezerman Tweezers ~ Best tweezers ever! Period.
Skin care
Nivea Creme ~ I have this in my house all the time. It is one of those go to products. For me, it is the next best thing to Aloe Vera Gel. It was my saviour last winter- cracked lips, chapped nose, dry hands and feet- they all surrendered to Nivea creme.
Olay Creme Ribbons Body Wash ~Review here
St.Ives Apricot Cleanser ~ This is a creamy cleanser with tiny pinkish/coral exfoliating beads. It works as a mask too. If you're concerned about fine lines and wrinkles, have dry flaky skin you should pick this one up. Although I have oily/combination skin, it works well for me and has never broken me out (touch wood! I love you so please don't give me pimples.)

Body Shop Body Butters ~ If you don't like these, there must be something wrong with you, okay.
My favorites : Japanese Cherry Blossom, Strawberry, Pink Grapefruit, Shea, Cocoa Butter, Wild Cherry, Vitamin E.
Not really liking : Moringa. I liked the smell of this in the jar but applied all over your body the smell can get too much. Almost nauseating. Not going gaga over Moringa.
Definitely not buying: Olive (olive lip butter made me feel sick!), Satsuma. Not to keen on Hemp and Brazil Nut (coz I didn't like the Brazil Nut Moisture mask very much) either.
~ Final thoughts ~
- Why wasn't Benefit blushes nominated?
- Why can't we vote for more than one product?
So, have you voted yet?
♥ Cynthia Z ^.^
So true, I cant vote for JUST one product! :(
ReplyDeleteI loove the st ives apricot scrub too! Its so mild yet effective.
and you are damn right about the BS body butters too, no one can hate em ;)
x
I love L'Oréal Color Juice! It's actually the first lipogloss I've ever used (=
ReplyDeleteI want more NARS blushes. I need more blushes in general - sigh.
ReplyDeleteHey Cynthia! I just noticed you bought a new domain name^^
ReplyDelete...and yes I must agree with you on L'oreal Voluminous! it goes on extra clumpy and not natural at all :( I've only used it a few times but it was a few times too many.
haha how come berry bloom of the revlon color palettes are hoarded by air hostesses?? XD
Lovely list. I so agree about MAC skin finish natural. I have thought of doing a review on it atleast 20 times but i am just so confused. At on time I go all ga ga over it and at other time I am all confused whether it is worth 1350/- This is probably the only product that I have not suggested to anyone whole heartedly. I use it, I like it but I don't lust it.
ReplyDeleteBloom Berry was the first ever eyeshadow palette I ever bought. The colours and the colour pay off are fab but the colours didn't suit me much so gave to a friend. She loves it. :)
Yet to buy body butter but the body lotion is excellent.
Like the Nivea cream. Find it handy.
Shu Uemura lash curler is right on top of my wish list. :)
Pretty list. Yet to try loads of stuff from MAC. :)
Hope you get well soon. :)
