MAC All Fired Up Retro Matte Lipstick Swatches, LOTD

You know, there's a song called 'All Fired Up' by a band called 'The Saturdays' (video here). Weird coincidence, I must say. Today is Saturday, if you read this another day & wonder what I mean.
MAC All Fired Up is another shade from Retro Matte Collection. It's described as Bright Fuschia Matte. Do you think it looks fuschia?

MAC Retro Matte Lipsticks ~ My Picks

There's no MAC store in Dundee, so coming to Edinburgh for a 3-day vacation the same time this collection was launched was perfect timing. We reached here on Friday Thursday, and that same day I walked-cum-ran to the MAC store at Harvey Nichols in the rain. I lost my bouncy curly hair on the way there, but those aren't Limited Edition like these lipsticks, so it's alright.
About Retro Matte Collection: Inspired by Ruby Woo's overwhelming popularity and one-of-a-kind texture, M•A•C introduces new bold shades in its Retro Matte finish.

Creating 2 Most Wanted Lip Colors

I played around with lipsticks, and created 2 of my most-wanted lip colors.

Maybelline Superstay Infinitely Fuchsia + Revlon Super Lustrous Va Va Violet =
Purple that's not easy to find. It's more intense than MAC Violetta Lipstick

Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon Red Sunrise Photos, Swatches

If you have ever rubbed a ripe & juicy strawberry or a red Cadbury Gems on your lips, you might really like this color. I have done both. When I was a kid, I would put a red Cadbury Gems (a round button-sized candy with chocolate filling) in my mouth, take it out, and then rub it all over my lips like a lipstick. It sounds gross now, but  it was the one of the most glamorous things I ever did as a kid.
About:
A LIP CRAYON BURSTING WITH VIBRANT COLOUR AND IRRESISTIBLE MOISTURE! With its melting formula, Color Boost leaves a radiant veil of colour on the lips with just enough shine and moisture to enhance each shade. A new generation formula that provides a bare lip sensation thanks to its light and non-sticky texture. With it silk extract formula, Colour Boost brings comfort and hydration to your lips for 10 hours. Its waterproof colour and SPF 15 make Colour Boost both practical and beautiful!

TOP 12 Summer Lipsticks

When it comes to numbers, I prefer even numbers. When I was a kid, seeing the number 24 always made me feel good. For no apparent reason, my head would get weirdly excited when I saw it's 24th on the kitchen calendar. I don't know why. This is just a thing, and I'm not saying odd numbers freak me out, or anything.
Then I grew up, and married a guy who is more obsessed with even numbers. Now even the volume on our TV has to be an even number- 16, 20, 24... 40. If it's 15, he will pick up the remote and bring it up or down to the closest even number. Maybe I should ask him what he thought of '24' when he was a kid, no? o.O
So! Here are my (TOP 5) TOP 12 Summer Lipsticks:
From left to right:
  1. Colorbar Crème Touch Lipstick Mauve Bliss 034 ~ A glossy light mave-pink that goes perfectly with smoky purple eye makeup. I have not swatched this yet, but you can see another shade - Passionate - that I know is a best-seller because of 'out of stock'here
  2. Maybelline SuperStay Lipstick Stay With Me Coral ~ I have serious issues with the  bumps on this lipstick, but I love the color too much to not use it.
  3. Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate Moss #16 ~ Swatches here
  4. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Rendezvous ~ The only orange lippy I use these days. Swatches here
  5. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Sweetheart ~ You know I love this! Swatches here
  6. Maybelline SuperStay Lipstick Infinitely Fuchsia ~ This is without a doubt my favorite fuchsia pink lipstick. I just can't get enough of it! Swatches here
  7. Hello Kitty Lipstick By Superdrug Betz Believe ~ This is officially my favorite rosy pink lipstick. Trying to find a shade exactly like it from other brands. If you know any, please tell me. Swatched here
  8. Maybelline Color Sensational The Jewels Collection Berry Brilliant ~  I love to use this lightly as a lip stain. Swatches here
  9. Deborah Milano Rosetto MilanoRed #2 ~ A lovely peachy nude shade that's become a favorite. I wore it here
  10. MAC Lustre Lipstick Patisserie ~ Obviously. Swatches here
  11. MAC Veronica Lipstick Daddy's Little Girl ~ Satin finish. The unique one I reach for when I don't want to wear any other color. I wore it here
  12. MAC Veronica Lipstick Ronnie Red ~ Matte finish. I like that this has a berry pink undertone, which makes it cooler-toned. Swatched here
Hope you enjoyed this lipstick post. Would love to know the lippies that top your list this summer, too! Oh, and it doesn't have to be an even number ;)

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick & Comparison With Ruby Woo

If I cared about my past, I would tell you the things Rihanna & I have in common. I cared so zilch nada that I didn't realize the thing that would've stopped me from buying this lipstick in the first place. I wanted a deep red lipstick, I was constantly listen to Rihanna's song 'Pour It Up' (Pour it up, Pour it up...That's how we ball out...), I'm a sucker for Limited Editions....and I did not see clearly.
But I don't care, so we'll just talk about RiRi Woo, a lipstick created for Rihanna. 'Riri' is her nickname.
MAC RiRi Woo ~ Vivid Cool Red shade. Retro Matte Finish. MAC's retro matte is the driest version of matte. When it comes to red lipsticks, it is my favorite kind. Intense, smudge-proof & long-lasting.
In a nutshell, RiRi Woo is a big disappointment. It's not a bad lippy, it's just not what I expected it to be. To me, it is exactly like Ruby Woo (shown properly here). I even think it is Ruby Woo only with RiRi carved into it.

LOTD: Rani Mukherjee's Makeup In Bombay Talkies

This is CPR for my Bollywood Series, if you still remember it.
A reader asked me about Rani's look in Bombay Talkies. I hadn't heard about it, so I went to watch the trailer. First scene in trailer- Rani applying red lipstick. I was instantly hooked. I downloaded the movie and watched it. Truthfully, I just wanted to see that lipstick, but I was also entertained by the movie. Next day, I attempted Rani's look.
I must say this heavy kohled look does not suit me. Rani has big lids that are so ideal for eye shadows, I have almost none-lids. But it's really about the red lips.... and apparently, excessive hair handling. I really didn't mean to! =D

Ordered: MAC Riri Woo Lipstick (etc.)

Riri, a.k.a Rihanna collaborated with MAC to create a vivid cool red 'Limited Editionlipstick named Riri Woo. It's a Retro Matte finish like my favorite red lipstick, Ruby Woo, which is also the inspiration behind Riri Woo.
According to E online, it sold out in 3 hours when it launched yesterday. Wow! If you want it, RUN!
I love Ruby Woo, and I used to think, "Ah, I wish there was a darker version in this retro matte finish (only)" Riri Woo looks like that version.
Free delivery over £30 (£2.45 delivery charges if under that), so I decided to get Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Style Surge (a coral shade). All shades shown here

Prices:
  • MAC Riri Woo Lipstick ~  £14 (Rs.1175). It's an online exclusive. Means it won't be sold in stores.
  • MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick ~  £20 (Rs.1680)

Available online at MAC UK

Now we wait for 3-5 business days......

MAC Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Love Goddess Dupe?

More than 10 YESES came in when I asked you if the lipstick looked like a dupe of the other lipstick. Previous post here, in case you missed it. A lot of yeses, actually. Some even guessed the lipsticks already! Such smart readers I have...it's like I can't hide anything for long! =D
Okay! The lipsticks are MAC Love Goddess (from Marilyn Monroe Collection. Photos & Swatches here) & Lakmé Enrich Satin #356.
I went to check out the new shades of Lakmé Enrich Satins, and from the first moment I saw Lakmé Enrich Satin 356, I thought it looked similar to MAC Love Goddess. I had to wait to compare them coz I was in Delhi, and Love Goddess was in Newcastle. When I could finally hold them together, they did not look exactly the same. Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 looked redder. But when I swatched & wore them, it's a different story. They looked almost the same. Ohhh, they're both Satin finish too- I realized this just now, as I'm writing! MAC Satin finish....Lakmé Enrich Satin .....sheesh, what a tube light I am sometimes.
MAC Love Goddess,  Lakmé Enrich Satin #356

I applied MAC Love Goddess on the right side of my lips & Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 on the left. Excuse the lopsidedness =D

After blotting with a tissue....
As you can see, Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 is a little bit darker and has more red in it. But I think they look similar enough.

Price Difference:
  • MAC Love Goddess ~ Rs.1050/ I bought it for Rs.1297 from UK. It was a 'Limited Edition' lipstick.
  • Lakmé Enrich Satin #356 ~ Rs.225. [Lakmé, Y U NO stick to these prices?]

DUPE METER:  I'd say 95% but it could look 99% if applied in a super copycat style.

What do you all think? Btw, did you want MAC Love Goddess and couldn't get it? Comment below with your feedback for more DUPE posts! =)

I'm A MAC Lipstick. Is That My Cheaper Dupe?

I hate it when people say something is a dupe, and when you go look at it...it's clearly not. So to avoid any disappointments, I'll let you decide whether this is a dupe or not.
The original is a popular MAC lipstick, and the other is an inexpensive lipstick by an Indian brand.
I will reveal this "Possible Dupe" only if I get more than 10 Yeses.
So....
YES or NO?

LOVING ~ Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks By Kate Moss 16 & 107

How awesome it must be to have your name with a heart on a lipstick cap! Mine will have a bow instead of a heart, but I'm guessing you already know that. I have an untidy touchpad sketch of it in my computer.
I'm doing a full-on review after a while, no? I've had these pics for a long while now. To be honest, I have a bunch of reviews lined up, but I can't seem to translate my thoughts into words! Let me test drive with Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks, some of the cutest drugstore lippies ever!
16, 107

  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks By Kate Moss 16 ~  A pretty pink with a hint of coral. I've been wearing this a lot. The finish is not an easy one to work with, because it has to be applied a certain way to look smooth & polished, but the color is too perfect for daytime that I always reach for it. This is from the Spring Collection and the formula has black diamond pigment complex (whatever that is). I guess that gives it a little bit of sheen & creaminess (not matte)

  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks By Kate Moss 107 ~ A wine shade with a ruby powder enriched formula. I've seen it's the most popular shade with bloggers here in the UK. It is one of the best deep red shades out there, and has the most glide-able velvety finish.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Candy Apple

Are you tired of all my Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter reviews? I am very tired of them myself. There's nothing I hate more than repetitiveness. But it snowed yesterday & I really wanted to click photos of a red lipstick against the white backdrop. I didn't want the photos to go to waste (like many many others), so I decided to post these quickly before I go do something in the snow again (omigosh, it's starting to melt!)
I promise. Last Revlon Lip Butter. NO MORE.

BEST LIPSTICKS 2012

Hope y'all had a great weekend. Three more weeks and it's goodbye 2012. I'm kinda sad about it, especially since there is one more thing that I dared myself to do this year, but I'm still procrastinating!

I was gonna split this post up and do it brand-wise, but I know I will get bored in no time and won't finish what I started. So.... I decided to make it a BIG post, and put them all in one.

Here are the Best Lipsticks of 2012 that I picked out from my collection....

Best MAC Lipsticks 2012:
  1. MAC Party Parrot (Matte) from Iris Apfel Collection ~ Limited Edition. I love this lipstick so much that I feel I should have given it a 5-star rating. Look & Review here
  2. MAC Watch Me Simmer (Amplified) from Shop Cook Collection ~ Limited Edition. Photos & Review here
  3. MAC Peach Blossom from Cremesheen + Pearl Collection ~ Limited Edition. Review here
  4. MAC Ruby Woo (Retro Matte) ~ Permanent. This definitely deserve a 5-star rating now. The very matte finish is just da bomb. Look & Review here
  5. MAC Viva Glam V (Lustre) ~ Permanent. This is such a great natural-looking mlbb (my lips but better) shade. It's famous for suiting most skin tones. Sorry, I totally forgot to review this when I told you in the May Favorites post that I would >.<
  6. MAC Modesty (Cremesheen) ~ Permanent. Another nice pinkish nude that's quite similar to MAC Patisserie. Yet to be reviewed here.
  7. MAC Scarlet Ibis (Matte)  from Marilyn Monroe Collection ~ Limited Edition. Swatched here
  8. MAC Love Goddess (Matte) from Marilyn Monroe Collection ~ Limited Edition. Swatched here
  9. MAC Rebel (Satin) ~ Permanent. Look & Review here
  10. MAC Cosmo (Amplified Creme) ~ Permanent. Review here
*There are 2 more that deserve a mention:
  • MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick Bare Again. It's such a nice peachy nude shade. Swatched here

Lipstick Crush! It's Not Red, It's Not Pink....

I have a huge crush on this lipstick! I want to wear it everyday. Yes, I'm wearing it right now. It's a two-faced lipstick - it's neither red nor pink. It's perfect.
I'm talking about Deborah Milano Red #9. It's that gorgeous!

MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick Review, Look & Dupe

Rumor has it that MAC Ruby Woo lipstick is:
  • The perfect red lipstick for every skin tone
  • One of Gwen Stefani's & Dita Von Teese's favorite red lipsticks
I've thought about getting it for years but either I forgot, or it was never in stock. This year alone, it wasn't available twice. Then during a lunch break on a very unpleasant day last month, I was at the mall and quickly dropped by the MAC store- I thought: If it's in stock, I'll buy it & if it's not, I'll walk out. But we already know it's not.
Bang! SA said it's in stock! Woo........!
It looks glossy only because it was very very hot (it sweat!), otherwise it's very matte-looking like below....
